I feel out of the loop in todays conversation because I know nothing about pens.

Here is a change of subject:

I bought an assisted knife, the seller modifys Boker Magnums and sells them. They are legal because they have a safety switch. Anyway, mine arrived today, and the seller forgot to put the safety back in when he modified it. I guess until he remedies this, I have an illegal knife.

Howdy peeps. A quick pop in to say hi in between day off errands. I'd love to flop on the couch and veg, but that ain't gonna happen. Gonna check the threads and get back to it I guess.

The difference between an "automatic" and "assisted" knife is the mechanism of deploying the blade. Autos are "button" or "switch" activated, where as "assisted" knives you must physically start the action of blade deployment either with a thumb stud, or a "flipper".

A safety, like the blade catch on my Scallion, just prevents unwanted deployment.

the comic are coming along great, Micah

the new brush handle is shaping up rather nicely, my biggest issue on it is determining the best way to finish, there are quite a few ambiguously contradictory-ish ideas on in it out there, so until then, I think I'll go ahead and start on Jen's new one, I just can't bring my self to offer up a "dent and bent" item, ya know?

Well if ya need an ergonomic test victim just lemme know :D

I'm way out of the loop, besides CA, and various oils, what are the finish options?

CA is a good one, in fact one of the most recommended for the wood type, but is expensive. I used a wipe-on polyurethane on the first brush, and it's doing well. some have used shellac before, and there are also oil finishes and wax finishes that have been recommended, but they would require the owner to periodically reapply to keep the finish up - not a big deal, but for some may be too much inconvenience.

as for test [slash]victim[/slash] pilot, well, you never know....

On average how much glue would it take for an average sized brush? I would have thought CA would be one of the cheaper options.

I'm not sure how much it would take, but just small 2 oz bottle was around $5, if I'm recalling that accurately

afternoon everyone. Just finished investigating the dryer. Right off the bat it turns out the thermal fuse is blown. But why? I dunno, just hopening it was one of those things that just happened. I will clean the back end out as well as I can of lint and check a few other things when I replace the fuse, but hopefully it just needs that $9 part which I will have Friday.

Check Big-Lots for their knock-off super glue.

the CA you use for wood finishes is thinner than the super glue in the little metal tubes you use for gluing your fingers together while assembling models, this is the kind you have to get

I've never seen glue of any kind in a metal tube...I'd be afraid if I did.

it's the normal small tubes that superglue typically comes in, like the proraso metal tube

Hey guys, finally sat down to do some studying for the test I have tomorrow, it's all going pretty well so far. Realized I haven't stopped in much lately so I just figured I'll say hi :)

Oh yeah, forgot about those. :ashamed001 I had a mental image of a syringe. I've used Jet and other contact glues for so long that I forgot about those old little tubes.
