Yeah? I found the ball end Old I have to be a bit aggressive, however, I also attribute it to the ball end handle which is lighter. I'm hoping the heftier Single Ring handle will help out some. I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes! She's got a blade in her already, just waiting for morning!

 

I like aggressive.. that is what i call a good shave

 

Now those old types and me just don't get along. I've tried mine several times and it just wasn't pleasant. Maybe it was my blade selection. I tried Derby's and some German Wilkinson's. Neither shave was pleasant.

 

Speaking of aggressive I over did it this morning. I realized this afternoon that I got a bit of razor burn on the lower neck. I don't know if it is a case of 6 days being too many on the 7 O'Clock Black (I can't get more than 3 on most other brands) or if shaving in 10 minutes this morning was a bad idea....

Looks like I will be using the aristocrat or Shave King the next few days...

 

What year do you have? I have a late 20's and a 1913 and then my 1909 SR. They are all good to me. I have a 1930 or there abouts Winsor set that is a NEW that I do not like the shave as much.,. Nothing beats my SE stuff though

 

I have a number of late 20's, a 1918, and a 1912. They all do very well. I have only used them with Astras and 7 O'Clock blades.

 

Yeah, see, I like my NEW over the ball handle Old I have. I did notice, too, tonight (thanks to Tom Pike, and others here in this thread) that the blade did shift and sit unevenly. I had to watch it closely, but I think I got it to sit fairly straight and even on both sides....

 

I fotgot to mention that I have a late 20's NEW improved that is a great shaving razor. I guess I just like the ones that have the pins.

No numbers on it at all... Silver ball end type handle. Hey has a hairline crack in the handle if that helps.

 

pipe cleaners work wonderfully for such application

 

Great idea there Jim. I've got several other open combs waiting in the closet for cleaning. I'll have to give pipe cleaners a try.

 

Try a red IP or another mild blade in there, Bill. Derby blades and I don't get along. I found them to be rough and inconsistant in sharpness.

A pipe cleaner worked well for my toothy razor crew. I coated it with some Maas and flossed them out.

 

We can only tell you the date if you tell us how long and how many cracks. :rofl
