Hey Corey, I'll be doing the same in the morning. I've shaved with a SE before (micromatic), but I can't say I'm any good at it or know anything about what I'm doing. Picked up a nice Gem Jr. yesterday (one of those I'd left behind the day before) and I'll be giving it a go with a Pal super single (blade courtesy of MsB) in the morning. Just finished cleaning it and loading the blade. Can't wait...

 

Nice! I got a Micromatic and a Gem Jr in the mail today with what look like blades from American Standard Razors. Are those the Personnas that sell in Walmart/Walgreens/CVS? If that's the case, I may wait till I get back home where I've got an unopened pack of SE Treet blades to try out. The DE Walmart Personnas did not agree with my face. I'm not sure if I want do a first time SE shave with blades that may be crap.

Either way, I wish you good luck and good shaving with your setup tomorrow. I'd be interested in hearing how it goes for you.

 

There are many folks in here with more SE blade knowledge than I. Haven't heard of American Standard Razor SE blades, and a quick search here didn't turn up anything. A look on Google turns up some single edge blade tools results. Again, I don't know what I'm talking about - just searching for clues. My local drug stores carry GEM SE blades, and they're not bad at all...

 

I'm going to try to get that NEW in the mail for you in the morning, Corey.
I was going to do it today, but I ended up just bumming around the apartment this morning.

I have to get a razor head in the mail to Bob as well.

Good morning everyone. I am a little more awake this morning, so that is a better start then yesterday. Not much going on today, just getting some posting caught up before going to work.

ASR is the parent company that makes the GEM, PAL, Treet branded blades. The also make the Personna DE blades (at least those made in the USA).

 

There's no rush. I'm out of town until Monday, so take your time. I still have to get yours out as well. I brought it with me to send out, I just have to sneak away to the post office.

 

ASR American Safety Razor. They make most of the SE blades these days. I have a 19xx model with it on the head.. I think a 1914 model will have to look.

Morning folks. Nice day started here. It is a short day for work then out to help Mom with the shopping.

Derby Shaving cream is highly underreated . I used it for the first time this morning. Cheap as dirt and good performance. I likey.

 

Morning all! Up making pancakes for the kids and just got done feeding the "Ladies".(Wifes 4 guinea pigs.) Off till Friday, all of 38 degrees and cloudy of course. Need to be getting some spring cleaning done in the garage today.

And like Fuzzy, need to get over to mom's house. Gonna cut the grass.

Just sitting staring at a strange laptop case in the corner, forgot about that machine. Gotta run some checks on it and price out some memory for it by tonight. Man Vista sux the memory up. :mad:

 

ubuntu.... You forgot the part about putting something like ubuntu on it to ignore Vista

 

Not my machine. The gent that this belongs to is far from being able to use Linux. That's why I have to keep upgrading to all the new Windows versions. I need to keep current to whats shipping on the machines I repair.

I need a little assistance identifying some Gems. I picked up some on the Bay, but except what looks like a Micromatic that I already have, the other two are alien to me:
