Good: Final Fantasy VII is out for digital download on the PSP.
Bad: The 1.32 Gig file size is .32 Gigs larger than my current memory card.

    Curses!!!

I'm tempted to get the PSP Go when they start shipping them. FF7 might be the tipping point. I loved that game.

$10 bucks to play FF7 on the go is a steal. I've got a 2gig memory stick being overnighted (I love Amazon Prime), so I'll be ready to go.

    have a day, folks!

it's absolutely crazy around here. a real murphy's law day. the boss (along with half the church it seems) is going on vacation. so that's the natural time for everything to go crazy so the assistant can deal with it.

but this is life. I've done it before and I will do it again.:D

Howdy peeps. I actually caught up a little in here. Congrats on post 3325 or whatever it is Jim. :happy088.

I liked Matts' cold water experiment. Glad he did it and not me.

So I shaved again today. First time in years I've shaved back to back days. The face is a little raw, but it definitely took fewer passes to smooth things up. Two plus touch up to be exact. I didn't clock it, but I'd have to say around the 15 min. mark. With practice I can probably whittle it down to 10. So I guess this is the future. In days gone by I extolled the virtue of the long, relaxing shave; the whole Zen thing and what not. Got to be honest though. One year into using a DE and the 1/2 hr. shave got old. Somewhere in between the 2 minute Mach3 shave and the 1/2 hr. four-pass-plus-touch-up shave is a happy medium that still has some Zen-like quality but doesn't hurt my back and legs from bending over the sink too long.

Anybody ever go back and try a Trac II to see how it performs using our better techniques???

    Hi Shep!

I used to shave every other day, but I get much better shaves now that I do it daily. Two passes plus touch up on the neck takes about 12 minutes. Sometimes I'll skip a day on weekends and I don't quite feel right. Strange, considering I wore a beard for over 20 years.

    Hell no... :D

I was getting great, quick shaves with a fusion and high-end goo before I switched. Have thought about trying the fusion again, but never seriously.

I'm glad you said that and yes mine does too. Actually, my hand starts falling asleep too especially with the heavier razors. I am working on speeding mine up and not being so anal about getting it perfect EVERY TIME....

Hi Tom. I used to use those store brand four-blade disposables. I have to be honest and say I wasn't completely miserable using them. The problem for me was price and they didn't last. There is also the issue of a DE exfoliating the face better which I do like. My face is smoother and cleaner since making the switch. A fact confirmed to me by the wife so I know I'm not crazy saying that.

I read someone once who said they liked the Track II because it was still multi-pass shaving and the cartridges are significantly cheaper. It might be worth an experiment. Maybe every other shave w/ it or something.

This is my problem. Once I start in, I must get total smoothness or as close as I can. I'm a little OCD about it I guess. I hate stepping away from the sink w/ a bit of stubble left over. That's why I was taking a 1/2 hr.

Okay, I've got to confess. Shaving with a Fusion was WAY less expensive for me than DE shaving. I'd shave every other day and would use the same blade for a month or two (15-30 shaves). I'd switch when my skin started to be irritated, probably from the bacterial growth in the cartridge (blech!).

So yeah, they were $15 for 5 blades, but that would last me over half a year. AND, I got great shaves. Go figure...

I agree with you about the whole smoother and cleaner business with DE shaving. A straight is even a bit nicer.

I've never tried the Fusion. I'm surprised to hear you say you got that many shaves out of one. I guess if you keep it dry in between and if your beard hair isn't too coarse then it should be possible. I do not grow a heavy beard at all, and I have slow growth but what does come in is like steel wool. Very coarse and hard to cut hair.

The big expense w/ wet shaving IMO is we get all excited and buy every damn thing we hear about until the shave cabinet is overflowing w/ crap....like mine is right now. :D

Actually, I've got an old guy's beard. Not especially dense, but very thick, coarse hair. It's like shaving little trees down. Not sure why I could stand shaving with a super dull fusion blade for so long, but I did it for years.

Gotta agree about the overflowing w/ crap statement. I actually need a shave cabinet now, just to get the stuff off of the counter. Thank goodness my wife is so supportive! :ashamed001

My luck with the Fusion was nothing short of miserable. It was one of the big things that pushed me towards finding a better solution to shaving and eventually finding DE shaving. To me, the small gaps on the Fusion cartridges would clog up in no time. It took me longer to shave with the Fusion using a quick later of canned goo. I'd have to rinse out the cartridge after every two or three swipes, and that just added way too much time for no good reason to an unenjoyable shave. I'd switch back to the Mach 3 because it's easier to clean out the spaces between the individual blades, but they would still clog up excessively, and neither the Mach 3 or the Fusion cartridges would last long. I'd still shave with them well past their comfort zone just because I didn't want to spend the cash on the blades.

Now, DE shaving has cost me an assload of money. I'm easily hundreds of dollars into it just from buying razors at every opportunity, so that whole myth of it being economic has been a total bust, but I do not regret those kinds of purchases in the least.

There were a lot of mistakes I was making before starting down this road. I'd been shaving w/ a mug and brush for 12 or 13 years using the multi blades. However I was shaving in the shower which I now believe is a mistake (though I know some guys do it). I was storing my razor in there and not drying it so there was corrosion issues. I wasn't making lather properly---I thought the sudsy stuff you get after 15 secs of whipping was the lather. I was shaving about as fast as I could to get it over with leaving behind a full face of stubble. And so on.

This is why I'm now wondering if revisiting a cartridge razor is doable. I know that's sacrilege around here, but I'm curious.

What's the downside of shower shaving? I'm curious because, with a few exceptions here and there, I've been shaving in the shower for most of my blade using life. Whenever I don't shave in the shower, the results are worse.
