The real trick (I think) is to get enough light in there. Someday I need to break down and shell out the quan for a decent set of photo lamps. By then, I should be able to afford a nice macro lens for my Rebel XT and probably a real light tent. It's tough to hand over hundreds just for lighting and defraction.

I used 150W CF bulbs for a while and they worked pretty well. Had to leave them on for 10 minutes or so to get full intensity and had to white balance in the box under them to get good color, but they were okay.

I had a bad injector blade from the Pella group buy too. Haven't gone back to the injector yet with a new blade. Thought it might have just been b/c it was my 1st go w/ a injector.

Weird, I bought an injector last Friday because I'd never tried one and was getting curious, and now all this injector talk crops up. Hive mind? Maybe it's a sign that it'll be here today and I can give it a try.

There was a post that contained one of George Carlin's 7 words you cannot say on TV. I edited that part of the post only, and the OP decided to delete the rest of the post.

That is why no one sees what happened because it happened so quickly.

Hope that clears up the confusion.

    I so choose!

What I did was go to DollarTree and buy a plastic colander:
the one I got had round holes. This is very important! $1

Then I went to Big Lots and bought two strands of 35 led christmas lights on clearance:

    $5

Then I picked up a wingnut that fits a tripod mount:

The holes in the sides were a little too small to push the bulbs through, so I wallowed them out just a frog's whisker with my drill, until the glass part of the bulb just slides snugly into the holes.

Then I drilled out a hole in one side, near the rim that's just big enough for a tripod mount to fit through.

I used a hole-saw to drill out a nice big hole in the very bottom of the colander--big enough to stick my D40 lens through.

Plug in the lights, mount it on a tripod, using the wingnut to hold it in place, stick your camera through the big hole and turn your new budget ringlight at your subject, and you're good to go!

    Not too shabby for $6.48!

    Christmas lights ring
    light tent on the cheap
    Justin,
Most commonly available CFL bulbs don't output enough lumens,

I have the same problem and have been looking to get some 35Watt 5500 K CFL light bulbs for taking indoor photos.
