Sorry to hear about your son. I hope it doesn't cause too much pain for him.

I remember getting to learn how to drive the porcelain bus on mine. :D

you're approach is better than mine. I picked one answer and repeat it ad infinitum. That answer is: 'cause I said so.

My son and daughter have birthdays this week: he's 3 and she's 1. Tempus fugit.

Kidney stones at 21? That does suck.

And I'm in the 21st birthday sucked club. I hadn't yet seen the errors of my ways and reformed my life. Let's just say my 21st was a disaster.

EDIT: 5 posts from 4 digit land. I'm catching up. I guess.

Crank out those 5, Mike - you're catching up with me!

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone! My son will survive the stone - I just hope he doesn't pass the silly thing. An 8mm asteroid is no fun. Last time around, they pulverized it with sonic waves. He was sore from the pounding and had to pee through a strainer for a few days to catch the bits. Most of it was so fine that it passed through the strainer. Amazing technology - way better than surgery.

It's up high, still in the kidney, so is only painful when it tries to move down. So far, so good. Now, if I can just get him to start drinking enough water every day... :angry037

Kidney stones are not uncommon for guys in their late teens and early twenties. I think it's part of the "I don't have to take care of myself because I'm bulletproof" thing... :whacky011

Sorry if that was way TMI for some.... :sick007

It's not the asking why in and of itself. It's the Why for everything you say even answers to the original why, that little little kids do. Learning is a wonderful thing. But my gosh kids can take the whys to the extreme.

Kidney stones? Ugghhh.....hope it passes fast.

My 21st was good. Wasn't spectacular or bad, just another birthday. But with a free drink.
Oh that answer eventually comes out of my mouth, too. Eventually. ;)

Happy birthdays to your kids! ::poze

It seems like only a short while ago that I was holding him on my lap while he fell asleep, then putting him gently in his crib (if I didn't fall asleep with him!).

All of those years of reading bedtime stories for hours on end - wasn't that just a few weeks ago?

    Where does the time go?

All of you with young kids, cherish every moment. You'll look back and find almost all of them to be perfect and wonderful.

Still waiting for my little tyke to get back home. He's scheduled to have a drink of Sake with the old man tonight, at least if he's not still on the pain killers...

Gotta run to the grocery store - hope you're all having a nice, relaxing Sunday!

Yep Tom, every letter of your post really waxes nostalgic for me too, I really miss my young tykes! It really is amazing how the years fly by. I remember hearing that when I was young and thinking "Yeah right old man!", but it truly does. :(

hello everybody here!Hope you enjoyed a great 4th of july (american members)
Today I did read in the news that many elderly people are suffering for the economical crisis and they need stuff like food, clothes and believe it or not shaving stuff(the prices of gels, foams and cartridges are so expensive here),so I decided to go tomorrow to the Red Cross here and give away a lot of shaving creams and Wilkinson disposable blades.I have like 10 creams to give away and like 4 packs of 20 razors each.
What about where you live?are elderly suffering from the same things?I think its sad that the ones that helped to built our countries and gives us the status that we have now are suffering from all this...Anyway,its just a thought that I wanted to share nd post here since Im still figuring out what is this long thread all about:happy102:happy102:happy102

give us a report when you reach a conclusion. should be amusing! :happy102

everybody, old, young, and in-between have been hit by the economic situation. in my area, the charities (like the red cross) are having to phase out services or shut down outright due to loss of funds and increased costs.

[political] I don't see things getting better anytime soon, with legislation in the works that would increase cost of living at all levels, among other problems. [/political]

anyway, donating as you have done is the way to go. people can't receive unless others give, after all.

back from the fireworks.... having figured out where the best place to park, sit, and the best route to get home without long traffic delays, its time to move the celebration to another park next year.

What is the thread about? I didn't know it was so complicated. I thought how are day is going. If not, then maybe it is about pens and how to dry brushes.

You will have to go to youtube for this one (embedding not allowed)

Same thing here. Jobs are non-existant, companies closing the doors, and local food pantries have empty shelves. Retired folk can't afford to be retired anymore and have entered the job search too.

    Ramble mode on...

Things are tough all over. Hard times... but, maybe now is the time to be most grateful for what we do have, individually and collectively. I usually get whatever it is that I'm holding in front of my face. If it's doom and gloom, that's what comes. If it's stupid optimism or humor, then I have a goofy life. When I'm grateful, good things happen - at least most of the time.

BTW, my boy's back home. His grandma got him the same gift we were giving him (that's par for the course). I'm glad to have him here safe and sound. Hope we don't have to hit the emergency room tonight. Anyone know a good Urologist?

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled quiet, late Sunday night...

Hiya Pam! Nope nothing like that, I just wanted to ask him about the Drive-In Theater in his town. Thinking about taking the kids to one and seen that there is one in his town.

    I'm glad that's over.

And I'm glad my child has such a great personality. She's gonna need, I'm sure.
