I haven't learned to "cast off" or "purl" yet, but I think I've about got the basic knit stitch down.

What's a cast off or a purl?

Purl sounds like the noise a content lion makes after it eats you.

 

casting off is how you finish the piece... it's like sewing up the last edge.

Purl is kind of like an anti-knit... where you go under the left needle with the right needle for knitting, you go over the left needle with the right when you purl. Alternating between knit and purl makes things stretchier-- I think.

Just finished giving the dog a bath. Daughter helped so we are all thoroughly soaked. One of these days I ought to order some of the Ogallalla wiener wash. But that would just set the rest of you down your bath of brush drying and pens all over again.
