this has been my first personal shipping/business with Dell, if it wasn't such a good deal on the price it wouldn't have happened - well, that and their the only brand with a pink laptop my wife wants (well, Sony has one, but no - too expensive, and too Sony-ish), she didn't like the skins I showed her for an HP laptop, so Dell it is. Don't know what shape the computer is in yet, should find out tomorrow, but it got sent by FedEx, so we'll see.
Still, what QC person would allow such a box out of the warehouse?
it boggleth the mind (mind you, my mind's not so herculean to boggle)

That is assuming there is a Q/C person at the warehouse of course.

Been a while since I had to deal with Dell. I wonder what country you will end up talking to?

    Hmmmm...

Shep is in the process of the move probably will be in Colorado next time he posts

Its not a good time to be a kid of an HYD member: kidney stones, allergies to ant bites

Its been dark and quiet a lot lately

Dom crashed his bike but it got better

Jason has popped in a few times posted and then disappeared

Amy Adams is Yummy and an official distraction girl

    Liv Tyler isn't bad either

Idiots are harassing JoAnna over orders and they still can't figure out the rules for the newbie of the month contest

Jim would rather have 40 tons of Rubiks cubes dropped on him then drive in a big city. I think I agree and then proceeded to go to Cincinnati and Indiapolis last weekend (which together were only a pale shadow of the fun in Chicago a week or so ago)

Micah went on vacation and forgot to pack his razor

You should open bananas from the non-stem end

Bram has gotten a lot of his yard work done and is coming along well in straight shaving

it has been hot in the South (and occasionally the midwest)

We reminisced about our 21st birthdays

We made jokes about the brush drying thread taken out of context

In restaurant brawl... the guys all choose Wendy's

Jim fired us but then re-hired us with raises

Jim killed a big snake at nighttime and posted some pictures, Jim got a new laptop, Jim posts a lot doesn't he?

Doug was back and then he vanished again

Tech support tanks and the people there assume the callers are idiots even though some of them are idiots as well

The new code word for he who shall not be named is "lingering issues" although that just sets off members in search of the lingerie and complaints about Victoria Secret's 75% off ads.

And that was just in July!

okay, I typed this up last night, then had connection problems with TSD, so here goes again:

eh, I'm going to call one of my contacts there, see if I can worm my way into a representative I can understand from there :D

I know I've recanted this tale many times, but it just sticks out as one of those defining moments of your life that it warrants repeating again and again:

was working with a contracted company upgrading servers several years ago, he ended up having to call tech support for a particular problem. He had it on speakerphone so he could work at the same time. Finally got a person and started trying to work through the problem, but after several polite requests at repeats of steps he (nor I) could understand, he eventually told the guy on the phone, "Look, I'm sorry, but I'm just having a hard time understanding you, could I get someone that speaks a little more clearly American." I grinned, 'cuz I could hardly understand either, but the guy got mad, not angry yelling mad, but 'I'm insulted' mad, and responded "I DO speak English, sir."
Without missing a beat (I figured he's done this before), Robert responded "Yes, I know, I'm sorry if I've offended you, but what I need is someone who speaks Texan."
    :happy097:happy097:happy097
wow, get a more understandable rep, and do everything possible to sidestep insult in one move, very nice

    Morning all!

Agreed! Really nice synopsis there Justin.

Did I mention that my wife had to take my fourteen year old son to the ER Sunday? He was complaining that his back hurt, he was having trouble urinating and there was blood in it when he did. Off to the ER he goes, initially we were all thinking kidney stones, but after blood tests, x-ray and a CAT scan, turns out to be just a bruised kidney. Seems the night before when I was at work, my oldest son lost to him playing an XBox game and they started to wrestle around. Seems my oldest landed several well placed kidney shots (he is a 2nd degree black belt) and that caused the trouble. Now dad gets to pick up 30% of the insurance bill. :angry032

Also seems our "lingering issues" is in rare form today.

My latest post to reddit. Let's see how this one does.

surprisingly, the one labelled "Lolita" didn't get an abnormally large number of hits. I don't give redditors enough credit, I suppose.

    I'm in crisis mode, though.

I've only got enough comics completed to get me through 75. And I'm not sure I'm going to have time/inclination to continue past that.

75 is a nice landmark number though, don't you think?
