Good evening folks.. Ummm... Not that any of you have an El Saltos near you.. but a large Mararitta is fricking huge. I didn't know that until it arrived at my table. I felt really good by the time dinner was over. :D

Man, I'm needing a margarita/mexican martini night, but I'm working tonight and all weekend. :(
But next week I'll have some days off... at least one of those evenings will be spent inebriated.
    ;)

    lol you guys are terrible

In other completely random news I've decided I really should stop eating meat again. I always feel guilty about it yet I've been lazy and eating meat just because it's easier. I've been thinking and if I can't stick to things I care about because easier alternatives are out there then I don't know what I'm doing with my life.

Besides for health reasons, I've never really understood the not eating meat thing. (probably shouldn't go there, I know a lot of people are militant about their moral reasons for not doing so)
I figure, as long as it's kept in balance with other food groups, there's no real reason not to eat it.

I just feel terrible about it, farm animals have been proven to be just as smart if not smarter then cats and dogs and yet they're treated so badly. I just feel like for myself personally, that it's wrong to eat a pig but let my dog sleep in my bed.

I'm not a big fan of the poor treatment part, myself.
It is my preference that food animals be kept healthy, well fed, and slaughtered by quick, humane means.
The last part is the tough one since by many peoples' standards, "kill" and "humane" are mutually exclusive.
However, being raised in a hunting family, I took on a more pragmatic view of the situation.

They aren't mutually exclusive in my eyes. If the farms followed the laws, the government protected chickens and made better laws for killing animals I'd be more ok with it. The problem is the laws aren't good enough right now and many farms abuse the ones that already exist.

    On that much, I agree.
I guess my stomach just overrules my principles where meat is concerned. ;)
Please don't think less of me for it.

hehe why do people think just because I want to feel better by not eating meat that everybody else must share my views? Sure I think it's a good thing and sure I like when people agree with me but to make people agree with me? or make them feel bad for not agreeing with me? that just sucks. All I think would be fair of me to do is share info with people who want it. Personally after seeing videos of animals getting hurt in the food industry and in labs all over the place I just want to help. The info is out there and it's everybody's personal choice to decide how (if at all) they want to react to it. If I've learned anything from myself as a person over these last 20 years it's that people will do exactly what they want to do when they want to do it and nobody can change it.

in other news my shower gel smells like cookies and that makes me so freaking happy.

I do applaud your beliefs in not eating meat, I was like that 30 years go. I gave it up but I went through a time I could not go near any kind of meat products and believe me it was much harder back then, not that many options out there.
I am curious about one thing would you be a vegetarian IF you knew the animal was being killed in a more respectful manner i.e. local farmer, local butcher. Not mass slaughter, or even the hunter that only kills what he eats.
Curious if this would change your mind in eating meat.
Like I mentioned when I want through this, it had nothing to do with how the animals were killed, I physically would feel sick anytime I was near the meat....

Honestly, if I knew the animals were treated well I might be more inclined to consider changing my mind. My problem is with the meat industry and how big farms treat their animals. I actually like veggie diets better because they're less fatty and they just taste better. They also make me get more creative and cook things you don't normally cook. I guess overall at this point I'd say no it wouldn't make me eat meat guilt free but I'd feel much better if 5-10 years from now I had that option when buying meat for my family (my boyfriend pretty much won't eat green things).

Here's some food for thought... how many bunnies do you think get maimed or killed by the reapers that are used to cut down all the veggies that vegetarians are eating in place of meat?
