Happy Saturday, everyone! Today is another pen-focus day for me. I'm hoping to get 10 hours on the bench today, although I may pop in here every now and then to see how the better half is living.

 

Not much going on here.. about 12 inches of snow on the ground. We went sledding, had hot cocoa and grilled cheese and then watched tv for a while. Playoff games coming up...

 

no snow. but it's cold here. and the family van has a flat. and I'm not mechanically minded.

So I broke out the owner's manual. after twenty minutes of loud cussing I got the spare out. now I can't get the lugnuts to turn. not even one of them. I'm about ready to torch the blessed thing.

 

Mike, try using your foot - stand on the lug wrench; they'll turn.

called my dad. he told me the stand on the wrench trick. may try that tomorrow. temp's dropping outside right now. the wrench that came with the jack isn't super sturdy. I'm not a powerhouse but I was a little worried about bending it. I'm thinking we're gonna have to have it towed on monday.

happy happy joy joy. but at least I'm inside and warm. oh, and I rediscovered my cussing abilities. I had forgotten I could cuss like that.

 

Do you have any short sections of appropriate diameter pipe? Slide a 2-3 foot section of pipe over one end of the lug wrench and you have a cheater extension. Also gives you more room to stand on it if you have to.
