I was just thinking of this yesterday, out of the blue. Need to make some again soon...won't happen tomorrow for Mother's Day, and won't happen for at least 4-6 weeks after that due to surgery/cast/rehab.
And I know I don't have a shot of convincing my wife to make any :D

Does anyone know if Toy Story 3 is only coming out in 3D?

I really don't think Jenna will be tolerant of having to wear the glasses. I know I wouldn't/won't.

don't know. surely it will be both 3D and 2D, for reasons just as this. so far all the 3D movies have been simultaneous 2D as well.
but, who knows what Disney may do.

    Well, fingers crossed.

I didn't enjoy watching Avatar in 3D. (and I wasn't as impressed with the movie as most people seem to be)

I haven't seen Avatar, and don't have any interest in doing so. I don't see the draw.

Wasn't my idea to see it. The storyline was weak. It was far more of a "Look what we can do with computer graphics, too bad we can't do the same for the plot" movie.

that's exactly what I get from all the hoopla trying to build it up.
it's also the reason I avoid alot of highly CG'd movies. I'm sure I've missed a few fairly good movies, but over-reliance on CGI usually means no reliance on acting

    Exactly! :happy088

For me, movies/tv shows/etc are not about the visuals. Give me a good story with good acting, and I could care less what it looks like.

    amen, sistah.

there are a handful of exceptions that I'm willing to make, of course, but not many. usually personal favorites, like Transformers.

As I keep telling (and pissing people off) if you feel the need to tell me that I must watch a movie in IMAX or in 3D then it can't be that good of a movie in the first place. And if the big draw is that it is in Digital 3D IMAX... well then, it must really tank.

As an aside... part of wife's Mother's Day gift is her and daughter are going to see Crap of the Titans in 3D IMAX. Part of my gift is I won't go along and ruin it with my attitude.

    yeup.

But, I'm torn with the new Titans movie.
On the one hand, I HATE remakes in general, and even the ones I may either think I might like, or end up liking, they suffer from the primacy effect. I almost always prefer the original, or the first one I experience, more than the next version. Very seldom does a remake become my preferred version, be it a movie, TV show, or song.
King Kong is one example, I like all three, though I like the '76 version with Jeff Bridges most, probably because it's the one I grew up seeing the most.
I have to admit I was pretty impressed with the most recent version. The special effects were great (except the T Rex's seem to be modeled off the Olson twins - is it just me or are they too thin?), but wasn't over-relied on. It worked, for me.

Now, the original Clash has it's charm that will be lost in the new version.
And it has Mickey (Burgess Meredith).
But, I'm find myself somewhat interested in seeing the new version, although I feel pretty confident how I'll feel about it, I kinda want to see it in the theater.
    but probably won't.

well, just enjoyed my last, really good shave for the next month or so, went all out...Proraso Red, Proraso AS, Krona loaded with Feather, and my Everready resto w/ silvertip knot.
Man, oh man, I'm ready to skip the surgery just so I can use that setup all week!
    Wowza.

Well, about 24 hours from now they should be about done, and to say I'm nervous would be an understatement.
To say I could do construction with the post-digestion phase of masticables would be more accurate.
Well, it's not that bad, just not looking forward to the inconveniences of limited physical ability.
And the gown part. And the needles. And ...

well, look at the bright side, Jim. They could cut you open with a light saber, and then where'd you be, eh? That's right, some man would stick another man who was freezing to death inside your innards... :freezing

You are correct domestic Turkeys do not fly. On the other hand wild Turkey do fly, they do not fly long distance.

My wife I went Bird Watching yesterday. It is at this time during spring migration that throughout the country they have "big days". A big day goal is to count as many birds heard/seen in twelve hours. We did not complete the 12 hours we did 10 hours. My arthritis flared and I could not go on for the last two. We saw/heard over a 100+ birds, great day.
I await my package of vintage razors that I bought last week. I bought some blade sample packages and few other goodies today. Now I am just waiting to try out my first DE wet shave.:happy102
Hope every one has a great week. Thank you for all your help in my big decision.

On the subject of the current trends in movies...

First, Avatar hold absolutely no appeal for me... looks too much like Smurfs in Space for my tastes... Yet another example of how the majority infringes on the rights and customs of the less materialistic minority who live in harmony with nature. Yeah, I get it already, mankind sucks and we're a parasite on the impoverished. Can we find a new theme already? Oh wait, they are making a live action Smurfs? Oy vey.

    Clash of the Titans:
I've not seen the new one, and I have to admit, being a fan of epics and especially greek epics, I was somewhat excited about this--until I found out that it wasn't filmed in 3D. The 3D conversion process doesn't work quite as well as something that was shot in 3D. Alice in Wonderland was awesome in 3D, but I could still tell there was something off about the effects--of course, this wasn't a deal-breaker for me, because, hey! it's Alice. My wife read a review of Clash, and from what I can tell, it bares little resemblance to the myth or the first movie. I'll probably catch it on DVD, and when I do, I'll be watching with the attitude that it's just a mindless excuse for swords and monsters with weird blue-grey overcast lighting. I've learned to approach these sorts of things with lowered expectations.

Shrek 3? meh. Toy Story 3? meh. Austen Powers 4? Seriously, I haven't watched the first 3... I'll stick with Our Man Flint.

I think Hollywood is missing the point with all these remakes. I wonder what would happen if you made a new movie with a new story, but shot it in the style of some of these older movies they're redoing. I'd love to see a new sci-fi movie made with special effects circa 1980--stop motion monsters and rear-screen projections galore. But then what do I now?

Yup... thats what I told the kiddos. Wild turkeys can fly high enough to get into low trees and fly into car windshields.... but not much more.

Sounds like a great day. Sorry about the arthritis. We just got back from a walk through a nature preserve.
