thanks ya'll. Yes, many miracles have already been seen, and she is quite the stubborn little one, she's already pulled her feeding tube out once, and tried to countless times. That stubborness is one thing I always dreaded when she would spend the night with my daughter, but it's the one thing I'm counting on now....ironic, huh?

Speaking of cell-phones. My wife is babysitting a coworker's daughter this summer, and that will include periodic trips into Terribleville for some art lessons. Well, we've been a one-cell-phone family for a few years now, since TWGW became a stay-at-home wife. It's been a nuisance the times when she's had to go babysit her nephews or run errands while I've been at work. These days it's not safe for her to be out and about on the roads without some form of communication, which has usually meant that she had to take my phone. I'm the type of guy who programs your number into my phone, and then promptly forgets it. If you put a gun to my head and told me to call Jim (whom I call on a nearly daily basis), I'd just have to eat lead. So, long story made interminably longer, we went to Hellmart last night and bought one of those StraightTalk phones. Got the lowest end LG flip-phone and bought the $30 package--1000 minutes, 1000 texts, 30mg of internet. Won't use the web on it, probably won't text on it, and won't come near putting a dent in the 1000 minutes. Tried it out, got coverage in my house! Crystal clear sound. All-in-all, it's a pretty nice deal. I'm looking askance at the $60+ I spend a month on my current cell plan.

How long is that package good for? Last I looked at pre-pay, you had to reload minutes every month or they would expire so it ended up being a wash with a contract phone. However, I use my phone maybe 6 days a month tops and even then half of the times I am using it, I am using it only because I feel like if I don't I am wasting the contract cost.

You have to reload every month. Even so, it's a dang sight better than what I'm paying for my contract phone. Actually, my contract ran out a little over a year ago, so I've moved on to the month-by-month plan with Verizon. Since Verizon took over for Alltel, they've been trying to seduce me into signing a new contract, because they don't like the deal Alltel gave me. They can't promise me a plan that even looks remotely like what I'm currently paying/using, so I haven't really entertained the idea of getting a new phone. Besides, if I sign a new contract, I want a new phone, and I don't like any of the current phones they have right now. Straight Talk is owned by Tracphone, and they're using Verizon's towers, which means I pretty much get the same coverage that I do with my current contract. From what I understand, their idea of "unlimited data" is actually "quite limited data" but I don't use my phone for internet, anyway, so that's not a deal breaker for me.

Messing with Pepperming Linux today. Not too bad, has some of the same weird issues that I have been having with Ubuntu 10.04 (nothing stays mounted from one boot to the next). I don't want to keep duplicate copies of all my pictures/documents; however, these newer distros can't see each others' files. Ugh....

Of course this being built on the Ubuntu 10 chasis, I shouldn't expect much different...

But running in openbox mode is kind of nice if I just want to use the web.
