Have fun in Mobile.

I rigged up an old desk lamp to shine in the tank, so I was able to find the fish she wanted. Fish are checked in at the fair, daughter is dropped off at school (a touch late), new strip light for aquarium has been purchased and installed. Now I can sit back, have lunch and tear down some old computer cases for usable parts before they are tossed out of the closet.

 

I know I'm weird but that sounds like fun. Toss in a couple of beers (and a round way ticket to the nearest airport) and I'm there.

 

You could have been there to share the memories when I pulled that old 200W AT power supply out to find all the bright blue connectors where I rewired it back in college. Brought back memories of a near dorm fire.... For what its worth, the fire was due to the original wiring. Turned that computer on and in a minute everything started to poor out smoke as the wire insulation all melted into the case fans.... Ah yes... that power supply brought back memories. I didn't know that I even had the PS any more. I do still have some of the melted wires at school that I use to demonstrate what happens when too much current goes through a poorly planned conductor...

But while I am bringing back memories of my youth... I thought this clip on the MAKE blog did a great job of that as well...

okay. so I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, metaphorically speaking. Kids started talking to each other at 0515. I went and retrieved the little stinkers at 0615.

My wife even noticed my mood and commented. It's pretty rare that happens.

Anyway, a nap and a beer (homebrewed) later, I am sooo much better. I wish it would cool off so we could take the kids outside. Summer in LA is roughly equivalent to winter in WI. You don't go outside and everybody gets cabin fever.

 

Went to eat at Outback the other night.

Checked the bank last night to see what receipts had gone through... fricken waiter gave himself a $5 tip. I'm almost 100% certain that I drew a line through the tip box and brought the total down. What should I do?

 

call the store, ask for the manager, and make a complaint. Most folks just let this kind of thing slide. If you call and you remain calm, polite, and insistent that you were wronged, I'm pretty sure you'll see results.

 

I might have just gotten a guy fired.

eh. doesn't surprise me that a three piece razor is easy to replicate via DIY skills. What does surprise me is that he's surprised. And that he'd want to shave with a PVC razor. I guess I'm getting picky in my old age but I really don't like plastic razors.

 

Hmmmm....

Now see, I don't think I would like it. But the DIY bug gets me too often. It certainly looks like a better idea that getting a hole saw and adding a top blow fan on my computer case (which I am really really thinking about)
