After a rough weekend with the tooth, I had a good night of sleep and I'm ready to go at work. Merry Monday all round it seems.

Hey, how much do you pay for your beer around your way?

I'm guessing that's directed at Erik but I'm gonna answer anyway...

BudMillerCoors go for a reasonable price- say, between $7 to $10 per 12 pack. Specialty* beers go for $6 and up for a 6 pack.

I've been able to find one ale at the local beer and cigarette store- Bud's American Ale for around $7 for 6.

The upscale store that carries a wide range of ales charges heavily for them.

Thus, I've moved on to homebrewing.

*around here specialty is anything that isn't lite or swill. So St. Pauli Girl, Sam Adams, Beck's, Killians, and even Rolling Rock are all "speciality."

I wonder how many of us are now following the MAKE blog... It is definitely full of a lot of gems. Well not GEMS... but it would be awesome if some maker came up with something using GEMS without trashing the GEMS..

BTW: I wonder if a maker bot can make a DE or SE handle? I am sure they can, but I don't have the moolah to make a maker bot.

The YETI was $6.99+tax for a 22 ounce bottle. Not a cheap beer, but something enjoyed slowly as a treat. If you're considering trying this or a similar imperial stout, remember that they are much heavier than typical beer so you won't be drinking it as fast, and the alcohol content is much higher so you won't be drinking as much. To me imperial stouts and stronger belgian ales that cost much more are special occasion beers both from a cost and flavor standpoint.

The vast majority of the time, I drink what Mike would call "specialty beer". Around here that costs $6-10/ 6-pack depending on where I buy it and what I buy. One nice thing about Colorado is that many great micro-brews are the same price as some of the better semi-big brands (Sam Adams, Heineken, etc.)

    I envy you. honestly.

I lived in Madison, WI for a while and loved the beer selection and the prices. Didn't matter if it was local or not, you could get a good price on most any microbrew.

I'm jonesing real hard for one of these. Kmart has it for $119, but I could have it in hand tonight.

    Somebody talk me down.

    you got it.

it's still pricey for a book reading gadget. you pay $10 or so per new title in addition to the gadget itself.

Compare that against buying used books or using a paperback swap site. I get all my novels for the cost of postage these days. ($2 per paperback)

So I'd say pass. Wait 'till they pull a King Gillette and give them out free so they can sell you the digital content.

    +1.

I jumped on the eReader train too. I got the Sony because I did not want to be tied down to Amazon. It was cool for awhile, but I like paper better. Plus, through bookmooch dot com, you can trade books with peeps all over the place for the cost of postage when you mail out a book.

If you really want an eReader, I can lend you mine and you can see if you really want to commit...

I am a big fan of stouts, porters, and some of the heavier lagers. The heavier, the better. You really should try Heavy Seas "Peg Leg". It is a made right here in Baltimore, and is not as expensive as many comparable stouts. It is my everyday beer. I get a case of Peg Leg for $30. Here is link: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/898/19667

As for the YETI, I already ordered a case of them big 22oz bottles!! For the price, it will be something to really savor. Definitely not a guzzling beer.
