Hey- I'm guessing you're around the same age as my sibling, and I interact with you far more often than I do with him. So we're in the same boat, but in reverse order.

...and try having my vocation. I'm at the top of everyone's "I hope we don't run into list." I wish I wasn't exaggerating.

So you graduated HS in 1996? We're the same age?

Another from the class of '96 here. Got my BS degree in 2000. I recall an age survey on TSD about a year ago that showed our age range was the largest on TSD.

Seems like a good blog. Of course I have never actually read a blog before. But, what the heck. So, things around my way have sucked the last few days. The two year old developed some type of weird skin thing a few days ago. It quickly turned into a nasty skin thing, and sent us to the ER. This is the aftermath. Remember, this is one a two yr old girl, and it right next to her private areas. Yeah, it was a very bad experience for all of us. They lanced it, squeezed it, and then packed it. This is post packing, the day after. Honestly, the picture just does not really do the real thing justice.

Yep. So is our fearless leader, sparky.

    Ummm..... Jason.

Hope the baby is doing alright, emotionally and physically, besides the apparent visible issue.

Ouch! Sorry to hear/see that Jason!

I hope she is handling it as well as she can!

you sure you want to post that online for all to see?

    +1 on the baby.

funny thing is that the youth in my program keep calling me "old" etc... They're all 17 and younger. And yet everyone else treats me as if I'm only a couple years older than them and yet I'm double most of the youths ages. I keep hoping someone will treat me like an adult...

I may be wrong but I looked at that picture real close, and that doesn't look like her "area". Jason said it was near the "area".

I've watched so many movies since my last review post, that I'm breaking it up into smaller chunks. #52-60 just went up, if anyone's interested.

#59 marks the beginning of Netflix in the 1_8 household. It's available for streaming, and I highly recommend it, especially if you have kiddos. :happy102

Ugh... Daughter's school billed our insurance $3000 for therapy services that the school was supposed to provide as part of her IEP. Of course that now means the insurance is coming after us with an iron fist for not getting those pre-approved while using the insurance to pay for her other therapies. Nothing like getting a Sheriff visit to get the day going correctly.

You must really like #59.. I am actually quite disturbed where an 11 actually fits on that scale.

Just watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs at the movies this morning (before the insurance thing....) Much better than I thought it was. Then again, I am a sucker for nerdy girls.

Sorry to hear about that. Massive yuckiness, my friend. My wife and I deal with things from a different angle by homeschooling. None of the therapists seemed to help us much because the didn't have feedback from a public school. Apparently, living with, teaching, and observing a child play with others doesn't count for much without a teaching certificate .

Thanks to lots of our own research, we think we've finally figured out she has Asperger Syndrome (OK, 95% certain since we're not psychologists). Thankfully it's a relatively minor case. We've been trying some of the recommended therapy approaches ourselves (parents would be participating anyway as it's social interactive stuff) and they're working well. Plus, we've found some natural herbal treatments that work better than the anxiety medicine she had been prescribed.

Now, I try to imagine that plus a sheriff at the door and a school acting idiotically on top of it. WOW, I don't know how you keep that together.

I am completely with you on the anxiety meds. Really, the only things that have been suggested for her by doctors for Aspergers have been things loaded with too much risk for our taste. So we are only using herbal supplements and nothing to outside of the regular norms. Daughter doesn't go to a regular school anymore. She received group and social therapy services each day at school. Those services are supposed to be billed to the state and not my insurance. I am not exactly sure when they got our insurance information to bill them. I probably had to have my insurance form copied at some time for some reason or another while filling out the pages of registration paperwork each semester. The Sheriff's deputy wasn't in our face about anything. Just dropping off legal paperwork for a court appearance. As far as he knew, it wasn't anything beyond any other subpoena. Its Saturday, so there isn't anyone to yell at on the phone. I hit a door a bit hard when slamming it at one point - so I wouldn't say I am keeping it together.

Good news: Texas is actually playing like a team, today and Nebraska isn't playing for crap.

Bad news: Just found out a little while ago that a friend's teenage son committed suicide yesterday.

    HOOK 'EM!

    :bounce

I kept waiting for the teams to take off their helmets and reveal that they had swapped places before the game. If UT had played like that the last two games...

man, last week sucked in college football (from my perspective anyway, YMMV)

this week, much better: Texas wins, Auburn beats Arkansas, Ohio St loses, Kentucky upsets South Carolina, and Alabama is leading (though the QB is frustrating the crap out of me....maybe nows a good time to start getting the backup some game time)

    funtastic
