It's all good, nothing wrong with getting clarification, especially on topics that can be very controversial, or at the least get your yard rolled

Micah, you did get the 24 pack double rolls, right? :D

if this happens, they can officially do whatever they want with the movie and it will be the best Spiderman ever!
It could be about Spiderman taking his suit to the dry-cleaner, and the main nemesis is the careless store owner who accidentally misses a spot :D

First of all, no disrespect meant in my description of the Safeway church. I personally have strong beliefs on the subject of speaking in tongues, but this is hardly the forum for discussing them. Besides, I'm in kind of a funk, and I'd probably offend even those who agree with me.

Now onto the truly important stuff:

I saw that, and I immediately thought pretty much the same thing.

yeah, same here. I was just going to add that some of my favorite people and best friends went/go to that church. They may be a little farther from conservative than I tend to like, but of those that I know very well, their core beliefs are spot on.
In fact, one of my best high school friends, David Rollins, played drums there back in the day, and now is the drummer for the band Pocket Full of Rocks, if you've ever heard of them

wow. spot on indeed. I would never have been able to put my finger on it, despite how glaringly obvious it is.

the downside is that such understanding tends to ruin mundane things from that point in time onward.... :(

Textbook companies that donate laptops to schools as an incentive to order more books really should put more thought into the process.

I have in my possession 2 laptops that were part of an incentive program. I also have two very eager teachers awaiting said laptops.

Both computers came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed.

"What's the problem?" you may ask... it is the word "Home". Microsoft in all their infinite wisdom, has made it such that a "Home" version of their OS is unable to join a domain--which means I can't effectively manage the computer.

"No problem, just wipe it out and install Windows XP, and no-one will be the wiser!" you say. If only it were that simple. Acer doesn't provide XP drivers for half the hardware in this "Designed for Windows 7" computer.

And just one more bit of frustration, albeit an nitpicky one, the box clearly says "black". It is most undeniably navy blue.

You know, I've actually been aware of it for quite some time. Disney has used the crap out of this technique in their animated movies since the mid 80's. If you look at movies like Little Mermaid, Alladin, or Mulan, you'll notice that everthing in the foreground is always some red hue and all the background tends to shift blue or green. The thing that just annoys the hailfire out of me, though, is ever since The Matrix, there's been this fascination with overusing the green hue caused by filming under fluorescent lights. It's particularly overused in anything depicting an office setting.

It is science book adoption year and it sickens me to hear the giveaway offers being thrown about. How about we chose a book based on which book is the best for our school and students, not which bargain basement, won't ever work with our system, cheapo, discontinued, piece of technology they will foist upon us to get our sale. As department chair I am about ready to throw a chair at the next person that starts comparing two book series by talking about the technology they will get.

Can I interview you for my book "Technology Out of the Classroom: Teaching without Teaching the Tool"?

*it should be noted, I'm not actually writing that book, but I have considered it on many occasions.
