I don't have any Buckyballs, but I've heard rumors that this guy used to play with them quite a bit:


I, of course, refuse to believe it, though.

 

Earlier this week, I watched the documentary King of Kong. It's a movie about one man's quest to set the world record score on Donky Kong.

You would not believe how incredibly entertaining this film was. It's available for streaming on netflix, amazon, and itunes.

yep. it's a good movie. although- I did a little research into the making of the movie and the director definitely disliked Billy Mitchell and *may* have manipulated footage to make him look bad.

That said, I highly recommend the movie. Got me interested in playing arcade games again.

 

I wondered if it had been tweaked to make Mr. Mitchell come across as a total douche. Still, I suspect there's a kernel of truth in there.

Speaking of playing arcade games again, have you seen arcadepup?

yep. I found an interview with a New York City area writer who came to that exact conclusion.

The writer did movie reviews and had some interaction with Mitchell at the DVD release of the film. His conversations with Mitchell pointed out the biased scenes but also revealed Mitchell's highly competitive nature and natural abrasiveness.

 

what is that? an emulator? I tried clicking on the screenshot when I got to the site and it didn't quite work.

It's a linux live-cd that's customized for emulation. It has several emulators preinstalled and configured. One day, I plan to build an arcade machine using this for the base.

How 'bout that color scheme, eh?
