How's Your Day? Archives

Last month, I put in to use my last vacation day today. Worked out pretty well, as we had a blizzard last night. Spent some time shoveling this morning, then drove to the store.

Now I'll just stay home the rest of the day.

 

Looks like I'll be writing a sermon and then going to bed early.

 

Please tell me you won't be making New Year's the subject of your sermon. I don't expect you would, but I've been surprised before. Plus, I'm rather picky about the fact all Christian sermons should have the same subject.

Now that you mention it, I have one to write, as well. I'll be conducting the wedding service for my son on the 8th. I've only done one other wedding. This one will surely be special.

I will be at work. My wife might join me there as we will most likely share a dinner table with some colleagues of mine and their spouses, but it will be at work nontheless.

 

I just turned 40 today and We have my girl being born tomorrow. So basicly I turn forty and BOOM, I am a dad.

I think my cat is half gopher. She loves to burrow under the couch pillows. One day, she even rooted up under my blanket and slept in my lap. First cat I've ever had that liked to be covered up. She also likes to sit in the empty bath-tub.

I think she may be on crack.

that's a weird cat. but then, every cat I've ever known is weird.

 

As a man, 99.99% of my wardrobe consists of wash & wear articles of clothing. I can, with confidence remove my clothes from the washer, throw them in the drier, and not worry about my stuff coming out wrong-sized.

My wife's wardobe, however, is probably 2/3 "special care." Her stuff has to be air dried, dried flat, washed seperate, or dry-cleaned only.

Why in God's name don't they make women's clothes out of the same stuff they make men's clothes out of? It's not like the textures are that different or the clothes particularly *need* to be special care.

tl;dr version: Why can't I just throw my wife's sweater in the dryer with mine?

 

The reason this general trend exists is that most women will buy such clothing
and most men won't. BTW, you can get "special care" clothes for men. I'm not sure where, but I'm sure it involves one of those stores in the mall I walk a wide circle around to avoid the stench.

Been busy and away, so brief update on the last week or so...

• finish trebuchet with daughter
• had bad cold
• Christmas with in-laws
• TWGW got me a kindle! Woo hoo
• Travel through storm to go to my parents for Christmas there
• Monday spent fighting a migraine
• cold turns to bronchitis
• return home - break tooth on cough drop when slipping on ice
• still procrastinating grading a stack of labs and chemistry exams
• looking forward to a hot shower and a shave in my own den in about 30 minutes

Plans for New Years?

• watch old sci fi movies with daughter
• maybe do some grading
• read books on kindle
• relax

 

A short, quiet evening with friends, probably playing spades, and then early to bed.
