It's no small secret that as the den's resident heartless prevert, I enjoy a bit of ogling ladies who are into cosplay. Often, it's just as much about enjoying the craftsmanship and creativity that went into making a particular costume as it is about enjoying seeing a curvy woman in skimpy clothes. Being one who has been known to dress up as a pirate occasionally, I admire the craft and the hobby. There are entire sites dedicated to showcasing the excellent talents of would-be costume creators and prop building enthusiasts. This is not one of them.

    Indeed.

Well, time to confess: I've been using *gasp* hairspray this week. But I rest (somewhat) secure in my manliness, being as it's Clubman non-aerosol hairspray. Getting tired of running out of directions to push my increasingly diminishing amount of hair, so I'm brushing it straight back.
In order to keep it that direction, it needs some strong "encouragement" to stay there after the water dries.
I've always used hair gel on the very few times I've ever used any hair product, but I figured since I had gotten the sample bottle several months ago (freebie from when I got a bunch of samples of the different aftershaves and colognes), might as well try it. I actually kinda like it, has the normal Clubman scent, isn't tacky, nor is my hair stiff enough to scratch paint.
May keep going with it - until I finally shave it all off.

Which may very well be this March.

My wife hates the idea, but....oh well.

The previously receding hair line is starting to take the "divide and conquer" route, so it won't be long until the only thing that looks halfway decent is bald.

    And I can't wait....more to shave!!!

I was approaching that point (way too young for it IMHO) when I shaved my head and haven't regretted it for a second. SWMBO was skeptical, but has admitted it's better than the balding look (though still not up to the full head of hair I had when we met).

yeah, I think I'm kinda young for such thinning, but I also know guys younger than me that are thinning faster than me as well, so I guess I can't complain too much.
My wife is very skeptical as well, which is why I haven't shaved it yet. But I'm about to the [slash]"shut up woman get on my horse"[/slash] "deal with it, dear" level.
After all, I like her hair long, but every time she gets a hair cut it gets shorter and shorter....I don't think it's beyond reasonable fairness to do my hair how I like just this once (of course, this "once" would last for the rest of my life, probably, so maybe it's a skritch beyond "fair" :D)
But, every time I point it out, it sounds like she's starting to break down to the facts of either a quick "it's done" bald, or a lengthy, un-balanced "oh look, the left side is catching up with the right side" game of hair loss.
Even my mom is starting to comment on how fast my hair is thinning and how soon I'll probably need to shave it, and she was an even bigger objector to it than my wife.

Maybe I'll make a deal with my wife, that I'll let my hair grow back during the winter while I let my beard grow out :D

I haven't once regretted chroming my dome.

Well, sometimes I do miss the ponytail, but seriously, it's better to be bald than be balding. There's also the added benefit of far less dandruff problems. Occasionaly, my scalp gets a little dry, but I just slap a little lotion on and go about my day.

Before shaving my head, I had psoriasis issues. Now, my scalp is perfectly healthy and requires very little beyond the shaving routine (really just sunscreen if I'm going to be outside w/o a hat).

breaking down and trying the firefox 4 beta...pretty speedy, but it'll take awhile getting used to if I stay with it.
Same could be said when I switched to FF initially. Just gotta get used to it.
But I badly, badly miss the status bar at the bottom.
Still, pretty speedy. Much more noticeable than I could tell the times I've tried Chrome (which wasn't much, if any faster on any machine I tried save one, my home desktop).

Going to try this a few days, and run nothing but Opera for a week again.

I'm really hoping for an XMarks for Opera extension, that's the only roadblock keeping me from a full switch right now

I shave my head over the summer. Makes the heat much more bearable. And as for age and hair- I think I'm younger than you and my hair is thinning substantially.

I'd keep it shaved year round except it seems to intimidate people. seriously. maybe it's the contrast with the black and white.

that's what I want, to intimidate people...grrrr! fear me! :happy102 (see Pillsbury Doughboy above...)

So what do you think after a day behind the wheel? Worth the switch from 3.x? I have been thinking about trying the beta since it's pretty far along now

sol92258 I have no earthly idea

well, I had installed it on my work computer, haven't installed it on my home one yet. I can get used to it, if feels a lot speedier than than 3.x, but my mistake was (as often is) I just jumped right in and installed it, didn't check to see if my main extensions/addons were ready yet.
Like you, I've waited this long for the Beta to be out a while and stable.
I noticed that XMarks was ready for it, so I tried it.
But All-in-one sidebar isn't ready yet, ScreenGrab isn't ready yet, and a couple others that I use a lot, and I'm badly missing the Status bar at the bottom (crazy, I know).

But others are there, like Greasemonkey and Adblock, but just check you main extensions and jump in.

been reading up on the status bar thing,it was left off on purpose, but there options to get make something similar back, though I can't visualize what they're saying without trying it...guess it's time to bite the bullet and try it here

    Go for it

I, personally, hate the way Mac OS operate and work...I'm so ingrained into the Windows way of doing things that using Mac OS makes me want to cry

I've never spent any time with Ubuntu, though I've heard it's one of the more friendlier versions of Linux. I took a few Linux classes that used Red Hat and Slackware...wasn't too impressed...so that's probably why I never jumped into Ubuntu

Like I said, I'm so familiar with Windows that switching to another OS just seems like a step backwards for me
