Got an e-mail from renboots with a tracking number... my standard shipping boots are expected to arrive tomorrow. I'm liking the company more and more. Now, if the boots hold up to the quality of customer service, I'll be super-pleased.

 

It's ridiculous, really. I'm excited about a package coming in the mail. I feel like a Ralphie waiting on his Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring. I just hope I'm not as disappointed as Ralphie was. FedEx says I should have my boots today! Not bad considering I only sprung for bottom-tier standard shipping. I was expecting a 4 to 7 day wait. They got my order and shipped it the same day. Excellent service! Now, if the product lives up to the quality of service, I'll be totally pleased.

I saw my first ever instance of Fake AVG this morning.

AVG Free is my virus protection of choice at home, but today at work, one of my teachers got hit with one of those fake antivirus programs that is nine kinds of hard to remove. The thing that freaks me out, though, is that it's using AVG's name. Now, I know AVG isn't responsible for this nefarious piece of software--they have too much to lose by pulling crap like this, but it worries me that their name is getting sullied by malware. I guess it means that AVG is a good program if the ne'erdowells are trying to discredit it, huh?

 

Today and tomorrow will seem like Christmas, expecting boxes from srd , HRO, and apple computers. (HRO is ham radio outlet, srd straight razor designs)
Getting a new iMac, Kenwood ts480hx hf radio, and a buffalo hide. Strop.

 

Nice! I've always been curious about ham radio. Is there a pretty thriving community? I used to have a cb radio on my pickup truck when I was in college, and I still miss it from time to time.

I'm not really sure about hf, I've been off air so long, but fm, or the local repeaters seem to be pretty quiet, but I live in the sticks. The larger cities may be a different story. The code portion is no longer a requirement, so just grab a book or study online, they give you all the correct answers and the test is multiple choice.

I'm involved in mars (military affiliated radio system) but haven't been active for 5. Or 6 years now. I'm looking forward to getting involved in mars and chasing rare dx.

 

...and then sometimes the right person can walk in your office, and brighten your day...and even while they're leaving your office, it can brighten even more

 

I'm dealing with a small outbreak of viruses here today.

So far, I've had a couple of computers pop up with startme.exe and you can remove it, all looks good, then 24 hours later--blammo it's back.

Then I've got another computer that got hit with fake avg.

Aaaannd... I've been waiting on a bed-frame to come in so I could take a half day off work and go buy a new bed that I've already picked out. Called the mattress guy to see where we stood, and he said the frame wasn't in yet... so, okay, I'll go ahead and get the mattress and box spring today because it looks like rain tomorrow, and I don't want to be hauling in the rain...

Well, our other location sort of oversold and so we had to give them our floor model... I'm waiting on a new mattress too... should be in tomorrow with the new frame.

Crud crud crud.

On the other hand, my new boots have arrived! I'm thinking about going home for lunch.

 

I have been battling a bad headache all morning. I woke up with it at 3AM and I struggled getting through my morning meetings, classes, and afternoon meetings. Finally, at lunch I went outside and went on for a quick walk to the gas station to try something other than the normal ibuprofen, migraine relief, etc... Yup.. a beef jerky stick, a whatchamacallit and a large diet dew and my headache is better. I should have thought of that at 3AM.


4 day weekend coming up, daughter's birthday is tomorrow, and relatives are coming to visit, I've got computer parts coming in today, and upgrades to complete; in short, it will have a busy, but long, weekend.

 

And now, to totally ensure that no-one gets anything done for the rest of the day, I remind you all about boomshine.

 

Sometimes the website blocker at work is a good thing. I don't know the game, but knowing it's something at kongregate...
