I was not aware you could record through audio output devices, eenterestingish

    Sure...

mechanical (sound) wave moves coil near a magnet to produce a current = mic
electric current interacts with magnet to produce mechanical (sound) wave in a coil = speaker

It is only in more modern equipment that this can be an issue.

The old walkie talkies we had as a kid were just a speaker/mic that changed function when a button was pressed.

As an aside.. any DC motor can be turned into a DC generator.

ah, wasn't aware of that, surprisingly, but I could see how older tech would be (and tends to be in many cases) more flexible and less specified than modern...which has both its pros and cons

Also, I just realized I need to check my Twitter account more often...

Well, apparently the tornado petered out just a couple of miles ahead of my house...very thankful.

    thankful indeed..

Wow... quiet weekend around the thread...

Lets see.... what all has been going on here?

Yesterday morning we had the autism walkathon. It wasn't that cold, but it was cloudly with occasional droplets of rain and 35 mph winds. Daughter brought her camera and stopped to take pictures continually. Actually, my wife did as well so the 2 miles took hours. Then afterwards we went to see the ballet Giselle. It was probably one of the best ballets I have been to see. We got home late and daughter was cranky this morning and we all had headaches so we decided to not push our luck and take daughter to soccer today. So, we have have a lazy afternoon between watching Dead Poet Society and Apollo 13. Add in ordering pizza, and it has been a much needed do nothing day. (OK, a do nothing afternoon.)

LOL... yup.... that is true. Thanks!

Happy PSPT everyone! I hope everyone continues to survive all that nature has been sending there ways.

May is here. (OK, technically, it was yesterday - but it wasn't mentioned) May May be a better month for all!

Upon looking at the news - after 10 years it feels rather unreal...

I know what you mean. Last night we were watching a movie on netflix, and after it ended, I switched over to reddit and one of the first headlines I saw was "Bin Laden Dead."

After the initial elation and sense of relief, I felt this weird sort of melancholy set in. It's sort of the spiritual equivalent of biting into a malted milk ball only to find there isn't any crunchy stuff inside--it's not as thrilling as you might like, but hey, it's still chocolate!

There are so many variables to be considered and these are truly scary times. I just don't really know how to feel about it all. I have, of course, resorted to my standby coping mechanism: humor. I cracked jokes all through the newscasts last night, and had more than one hardy laugh at the situation as it played out (Seriously, abc, you should have labelled it "Richard Clarke" not "Dick Clarke" if you didn't want me cracking "Dick Clarke's Rockin' Assasination Eve" jokes).

    It just feels so surreal.

yeup, same here, was watching Storm Chasers on Netflix, but on internet on my computer, about to go to sleep when the reports started popping up on facebook and news sites.

turned off netflix and started watching the new.

    Really kinda mixed emotions

On the other hand, I have absolutely no mixed emotions about monday, it can suck my foot.

Already have one dead car I can't afford to fix right now with the engine bad. This only shortly after having to replace the battery and all for tires.

So, for this week, since I'm having to stay late a few days, we're borrowing my dad's non-work truck, so my wife can get things done.

Already having to extend our IOU with the Dr's office today, she's taking my son to see about a rash on his hand and feet.

Get out to leave, and the freakin good car...the one we've replaced all four tires on, plus two more due to misalignment, at which time they supposed fixed the alignment, now with same wear problem as before. Going to have to replace two more freakin tires soon, and get the pics of ship aligned again - ain't going to the same place anymore.

But, before all this can take place, I've got to get the car started...which is a challenge when the freaking battery is freaking dead.

Great. On top of all the other things I can't get fixed, now this. Hooked up the battery charger and put it on jump start, got to work, internet wonky all over the place. Can't get anywhere else in the district without a jump, just realized I left my jumpers cables in my other car, so hopefully someone has some.
Except I was needing to stay late today and work on inventory. Now I'm going to be behind on that.

    I freaking give up

Okay, I know some of you are having a particularly bad PSPT. I'm sorry, and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Now, if there's anything that can bring you out of that funk, it simply has to be Chester A. Arthur riding on a Sharkopotapus. If that doesn't brighten your day, nothing will.

Post Sunday, Pre-Tuesday. We've opted to avoid the "M" word around here. It tends to send some of us into apoplectic fits.
