Woke up early again. I'm not sure where it came from as I never cared much for origami, but decided I needed to know how to make a paper crane. I've made three of them so far and two look like they should. The third one, well not so much.

    Emily update:

(Okay, I *know* I posted this last night, but I guess I don't know what I think I know, I guess....anyway, this was supposed to be yesterday's date)

It's so hard to believe it's already been an entire year since Emily's accident, and at the same time, it's hard to believe it's only been one year.

The progress and recovery in my daughter's friend's life is truly a miracle, she never missed a day of school due to the accident, stayed at the same grade level and had all A's all year. Absolutely unbelievable.

I still genuinely appreciate and thank everyone who was involved in prayer and thoughts for her family this past year, and I know they do to.

Damn, how bad of a funk am I in right now? 11 pages of DYAC and nothing that struck me as funny

Well, I pieced together another filter!

This one is a lens-blur type affair that lets you adjust the bokeh. It's not as fancy as some professionally made focus blur filters, but I'm still proud of how it turned out. It took me quite a while to work out the right procedures and the right order to get it to look realistic.

You can see an example and the code here.

Just watched School for Scoundrels on Netflix.

Excellent movie. I think it might go on my list of favorites. Quite funny.

Morning (albeit late) to all of you.

In local news, today is the first day the sun is shining here in about a week. Good news! And I'm hungry.

    ME!

I'm glad to hear no one was hurt. It must be quite a shock to be in your bedroom and have someone drive through your living room.

Two out of three ain't bad. I've never been able to make a paper crane look like anything other than a crumpled up ball of paper.

In other news, no more Cadbury Creme Eggs are on the shelves in stores. :(

Not as big a shock as being in your bedroom and having someone drive through your bedroom, however.

Pulling my hair out right now....lottsa reasons, actually, but the biggest ass in my pain is trying to figure out how to stream live video with VLC. Lots of good documentation out there, if you're stuck in the year 2005 at least.

Nothing helping me with current versions. Guess I'm going to have to download an older version. I feel like I'm so close, but I'm not getting all my Ts dotted and my Is crossed I think.

This was thrown on me yesterday afternoon, by the way, that if it rains tonight (highly likely), then they'll have to hold graduation in the auditorium.

    That means several things:
    A) I'll have to be here
    B) Limited seating, limited tickets handed out to families
    C) There are several families that have 10+ coming, and one family with 30+ coming from out of town

They want me to figure out how to get video streaming from the auditorium, which only has fair strength wireless signal, to play to the TV in the cafeteria...in less than a day. With the equipment we have. Now.

It's okay, I like the challenge, I enjoy it, but the limited timeframe, lack of equipment, and other crap that needs be done, kinda takes some of the joy out of it.

And, I know this: If I can't get it working, that reflects bad on my skills, right?
And if I can get it working, then it'll be another expected service, right?

Uggh. Someone shoot me. Very large caliber preferred. Battleship would be great, thanks.

    In other news,

    DOM!!!!

woohoo, got it working, somewhat...had to run the VLC server from Ubuntu on my netbook, but it worked.

Maybe the full laptop I'm configuring now will work from Windows, I really don't want to have to install Ubuntu on this one

wouldn't that be like the Ghostbusters crossing the streams, though? :D

that would be nice, but the same situation here, no moola.

We just had to spend the majority of our money we had set aside for anniversary date this weekend on something that came up this week (which explains my most recent rant on being kicked in the *$&#s yet again), which just ramps up the frustration and stress

I just heard that Macho Man Randy Savage died.

    :(

I'm not much of a wrestling fan, but I remember him being a big deal when I was a kid... kind of makes me sad.

Ugh, I think I just got over a bout of food poisoning. Yesterday started off great with finishing my first real full Str8 shave, but as the day went on I got worse and worse. I still feel a bit queasy, but now I can at least try and think about today's shave!
