Well I did it. Made the commitment and joined a gym this morning.

Was there at 06:15 and had a nice 90 minute workout.

I need to shed about 50 lbs I'm still carrying since I quit smoking about 20 months ago.

Congrats.. I could stand to lose a good 50 pounds as well. I just don't see me ever getting to the gym enough to make it a worthy investment. I feel like I am being judged just walking within a half mile of a gym.

Thanks. I know the feeling about being judged. I think there were 60 yo women lifting more then I was this morning. It's alright though, no one is going to do it for me and I have to start somewhere.

I was steady about 205 while smoking, ballooned up to about 280 and am now back to about 255. Unfortunately, my pants aren't fitting and I've been rather uncomfortable for a while. It's time to do something.

speaking of ballooning (mine also happened after stopping smoking and then the recent balloon happened after repeated knee injuries and tendinitis)

anyway... speaking of ballooning... daughter doesn't want to go out to do anything today. Her ankles hurt too much.. She didn't finish her breakfast because her ankles are distracting her too much... OK, time for a measurement

yup... she has grown about 1/2 in 2 weeks.

okay, we seriously need to get the SPA group going full steam.

When I get a chance later, I'm going to look into something and develop a thought (yeah, I know, some people fart and get thoughts; it's quite a bit more work for me....just ask Doug or Micah)

I was wondering what that smell was...

Yeah, I know about needing to get the SPA going. My tendinitis flares up every time I try to do anything.. .it is ticking me off. I did spent about 1.5 hours on a bike yesterday. Maybe I should put something on and ride the stationary an hour before my shower/shave.

Just checking in real quick. So little time lately it seems. First I want to say that I like the beginning of the story Micha. Also it seems like a lot of us are in the same (sinking?) boat when it comes to fighting those post quitting pounds. It's been a sleepless, craptastic week here with staying up until the GF gets home and worrying about my mom. But mom is out of the hospital now and seemingly doing well and I will be down there for a week on Sunday, so that's good. Hopefully I will be able to catch up with my sleep while I'm there. Headaches abound daily with the spring weather and pollen so I'm not making it on here as much as I'd like to right now. Think I'm gonna limit myself to one brush, razor and soap for the trip. It's gonna be a hard decision to make.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Uncle Albert's advice on what razor/brush/soap combo (since you didn't ask) is thus:

Take your cheapest brush--burmashave brushes travel pretty well in a large pill bottle with holes drilled in the lid. Take your most middle of the road razor--your mildest superspeed should fit the bill--you don't know what the water quality is going to be, so a gentle razor is less likely to freak out all over your face than an aggressive razor. Then for the soap--This is a tough call, I usually take a puck of williams, just because it's cheap and if I forget it, I won't regret losing it. Plus, the cheap stuff seems to perform about the same no matter what the water/weather conditions are. It's far more preferable to have a week of mediocre shaves than to have a week of horrible shaves.

Day 3 at the gym and I'm feeling good. Still not excited or looking forward to going each morning, but getting there at 6am seems a little easier. The cool thing about this gym, is that it was an old movie theater. They have a bunch of cardio machines in a room with a 6' x 9' movie screen. So after warm up and lifting, I got to spend half an hour watching Uncle Buck this morning.

The bad news is that I think my scale at home needs calibration. I've been thinking I'm roughly about 250lbs. I tried two separate scales at the gym and both called me a fat ass and said I'm 260 lbs. I guess I just have a few more pounds to lose then I initially thought.

Overall I'm feeling better so far and that's all that really matters.

Putting up a swimming pool today. Hopefully in a couple of hours, I'll be sitting in the cool. :D

Well that was different.... Playing lego rock band while using an exercise bike. I am surprised I maintained an average of 15 mph.
