did a direct attachment to fix the pic.

Wait... how long have you been at that position and they are leaving you in charge of the plant?

Ummm. was this like the cake decorators last day at work? Otherwise, what was he/she contemplating... ::sesel

I was just telling Micah about this picture earlier today (and don't get me started on the My Little Pony mask meme....), and was going to go back and find it from where I saw it yesterday, but you've just made my task easier :D

I guess the girl the cake was for has requested a different Darth Vader themed cake each year. This is basically what she wanted and it was actually decorated by a 19 year old boy at Dairy Queen. (The blog post with the series of cakes...)

Wife is reading off the restaurants going that will at Taste of Chicago tomorrow and listing food offerings. I guess that is what we will be doing tomorrow.

    4... ish. We'll meet and greet, then eat sometimes after that. P A R T Y! :::eatdrink047:eatdrink004:eatdrink020:pot::git: :bounce017:happy093

BTW, now that you've changed your location, my "12 parsecs" line no longer makes sense.

    Best cake ever.

Two months. But, I am an experience engineer and it is fairly simple to run. I also had a very experienced operator to work with who knows the plant very well. We don't run with less than two people, except for maybe an hour while someone goes to bring back lunch. On top of that, the most finicky system - which is being replaced by a permanent one - was ~50% my design. It was actually intended just as a test, but it worked so well we've kept running it and are installing a proper version as soon as the equipment we ordered comes in.

OK, I need to temper that - while I did design the system, the idea wasn't original to me and it was more just recognizing what need to be a priority than anything else. We've also left operators as the person at the plant for an hour while we get lunch after the same amount of time. It still shows they like and trust me, just not radical as it sounds at first.

I didn't take it as something radical, I took it as a positive sign of trust. You are obviously qualified to do the task. It is just nice that they recognize that and trust you to do the task.

Speaking of P A R T Y! Be sure and bring a crusty razor or 2, I plan on bringing my new jewelry cleaner to show off, and it'd be awesome to have some stuff to clean. Do I know how to bring life to a shindig or what?!?

between the grill on grill action and the cleaning of some crusty razors and other stuff, that is one crazy party!

Bleh...I've needed to be outside moving dirt all morning, but been stoved up inside sinus/allergy crap, it's starting to subside and let me go about business now, but it's seriously cramping my day, and ruined getting out while it was somewhat coolish....dang it

genius. pure genius. I love cakewrecks.

and in this past week, I survived:

    1. VBS. attendance was low, but it was still VBS at my church and all the attendant craziness. wife was head of arts/ crafts. I was a jack of all trades guy.

    2. my daughter's stomach virus. occurred on the last day of VBS. I stayed home with the pukey one while the wife went to VBS and did arts and crafts. Everyone was thankful we didn't do it the other way around.

    3. Talked with movers. Looks like we might be leaving cenla around July 18th.

    4. Made various other moving arrangements. Seemed like everyone would call me the minute I was needed in VBS and couldn't respond immediately.

I'm wiped out. So's the wife.

double uggh, wish I knew how to influence my wife with facts, logic, and common sense....

Some people are only influenced by emotion. Remember you're convincing your wife, not yourself. (/my own advice I don't take)

yeah, I know I can convince her that way.....usually.

I just hate the disingenuous feeling of the process. I'd much rather make a decision mostly by logical thought, even though I suck at logic :ashamed001
Emotion certainly does have a part of the process, and I would never take it away, but it should not be the majority of the factor

excellent advice from Erik but I have yet to follow it. Good luck. Take one for the team if you have to. Whatever that means.
