New computers are nice. Finally got my desktop in the new case yesterday. I'm sure it will take me months to figure out what Linux programs I like for different things. I know it wouldn't work if I didn't have the work laptop since I use some specialized software for work that doesn't work in Linux (even via WINE). But, that's a nice way to break apart work and personal stuff. Now I just want the Chrome Netflix plug-in out and working so I can stream Netflix on this machine.

 

Just got back from family gather trip #1. Spent the last few days in Dubuque, Iowa and Galena, Il Driving wasn't too bad. However, it took us about 1.5 hours to get the last 30 miles. Stupid construction delays on the interstate... I picked up Star-Kampfe pat. 1880 lather catcher, saw a lot of steamboat history, played disc golf, watched daughter take a tumble off the alpine slide (tracked carts that go down the ski slope to the Mississippi river and then take ski lift back up...)... yup... lots of fun. Now to get laundry, etc.. caught up, spend a few days running out to required pre-fair activities for 4H, and then pack and off to another family gathering.

 

'been trying for months to get the Dragon's Tongue parachord weave going, and finally tonight I succeeded! Small victories...

Only two pages of HYD last week. Everyone else must be as busy with work as I am.

Got to my office a tad early... and my section was totally empty until 845 when a PhD student came in. I hope its not one of those days.

I find some of those comics pretty funny. Some of them... not so much but that is a pretty funny one i must admit.

 

yeah, they're a bit like SMBC, kinda hit and miss for me, though the ratio is considerably higher for Cyanide and Happiness for me

 

Ya, i remember when i would read dozens of these a day. But for some reason I just stopped. Might have to start that up tonight again

 

I don't know what is worse, the heat advisory or the air pollution warnings. Either way, it is hot, nasty, and somewhat toxic outside.

I am already missing the gathering with my family where it was just hot.

 

started good so far

got home from night shift (i work in factory with the girl friend) she had shower first and as soon as her head hits the pillow out like a light, bathroom with no interuptions the only way to shave.

 

I just found out something that's probably going to stress TWGW out no end. I've not been able to get her on the phone, but I know that when I do, she's going to be ticked.

Truthfully, it's not that big of a deal, it's just that we've got a lot going on this week, and it's going to put a pretty good kink in things.

I'm not looking forward to this call.

It's really not too big of a deal, it's just that we're going to get my paycheck a day later than we expected... She's going to be ticked because we're planning to go out of town, but bills need to be payed. She was hoping to pay bills on Wednesday, and leave Wednesday night... But if we don't get payed until Thursday, we'll either have to wait until Thursday to leave, or pay bills while on the road. Either way, it's going to crimp things a bit.

In the big picture, it's a small thing, but it's the kind of thing that tweaks her nerves to no end.

 

Ah. I hate those little things that can end up changing plans. Changing plans is a pet peve of mine... haha.

Hope everything goes well though and the trip out is nice.

So far today has been a very quiet day in the office. Pretty nice, but it is a hot one today folks.
