Micah - You may have just sold a book. Very interesting cover for someone who spent the majority of his childhood in South Dakota, less than an hour from Mt. Rushmore.

    Thanks!

From my understanding, the book doesn't actually take place at Mt. Rushmore... the author just wanted a billboard with "some monument" on it in the "middle of nowhere" and I thought Rushmore would make a good stand-in until he pinned it down. Turns out, he liked the idea. The killers actually travel around the country, from what I've been told.

    Congrats!!

Its spring so the busses are full of dust from driving on the sand from winter. We can't salt the streets as it I too cold for the salt to take effect on ice...we use sand instead.

Hmmmm... if you were thinking of upgrading the OS from Windows XP, would it be worth it to wait for 8?

no, I'd go ahead and go with Win7. Win8 really seems to be geared towards touchscreens and/or tablets/slates. I keep in mind that this is not the final version, or release candidate, or anything, it's a preview, it's really basically 7 with the Metro thing. Kinda looks just like the new Windows mobile phones. There's still the normal desktop, but it's a little different...there's no Start button, you move the cursor to the bottom left corner to bring up the option to go back to the Metro part and choose a program to run. It's okay, so far, I still haven't learned much about it, just kinda piddling, I've got to put more focus on getting proficient with 7 on the server/Active Directory/Group Policy side of things, since that's the role I've been given at work, to get ready for the big Win7 deployment this summer. I have 8 running as a virtual machine via Parallels on my Macbook Pro (along with Win7, and Ubuntu :)), so it's really just familiarizing myself with it.
I really personally see it being more geared to mobile devices, less so for desktop, so I'd go ahead and go to 7 if you're going to upgrade. I'm really liking 7, there's still some management sides of it that I'm having to learn (setting default profiles is a MAJOR PITA, especially compared to XP).
That said, you could go ahead and download and try 8 and see what you think...be warned, it's a 2.5 GB download, then setup a VM on your computer and try it out. Heck, while it's 'free', why not? That was my thinking, anyways :)

I tried downloading it already, but after about 30K it declares it is done and quits. With Spring Break coming up, I may try to download the ISO next week at work.

If I can find one of my other flash drives, I may send it to you if you like, if that'd be easier.

Having a rough week. There is something strange going on here in Washington state and people are canceling there plans. I have had three clients call and cancel some pretty large events. It is not good when I have to cross out gigs on the calendar. At first I thought it was my pricing but after I checked into it I found out that other sound companies are have the same thing happen to them. I guess I am gonna have to live off of weddings for a while.

On a another note - I got a call from my Dad last night and I found out that my uncle hung himself yesterday. It is a complete shock to everybody. My Dad wants me to come to the funeral and spend some time with him but I just can't swing it. How do you tell your Dad no for something like this,

We're in the process of refinancing our house to save some money. The wife said she was painting the master bathroom while I was gone a couple days for work. She also surprised me with a couple of shelves for my shaving gear. I'm a lucky man.

Thanks for your prayers everybody. I found out some more information about Uncle Joe today. He had some heart problems for a while and went to see his cardiologist on Wednesday. He did not share what happened at that appointment but my aunt said he was very quiet after that. At this time I think prayers are needed for my aunt and the family. There is a lot to deal with.

    Thanks friends!
