Looks like I may get another gem for the collection.. A cased Feather weight. just 10 min left and I am the only bidder... hope I did not jinx myself.

So what's the story w/ these Gems bunny? Why do you like them so much better? It's the same as a DE only one sided right? Same blades, same basic construction (minus the other side of course). It's cool that you're into them; I just don't get the draw. 'Splain it to me.

 

I gave them a try but the shave wasnt good Might have been the CVS blades but very uncomfortable and didnt touch my DE razors.

 

The angle of the head is different. To me, and other nuts like me, it is a much easier closer shave then the DE. They feel better in my hands also. Plus come on the ole face Hoe just looks cool. My favorite one is over 90 years old and shaves better then anything I know of.

Something was not right.. which one did you use? I use cvs blades and they are great for me your burnWood of course. maybe you just got ahold of a bad blade.. that does happen.

I had 2 of the same Gem's....basic model. Sold them over across the street and of course cant access my PM. Nothing fancy but maybe I should have given them another chance. I like my injector though but its a whole different animal. DE is still my fav....not trying to be part of majority but I have really got the "perfect" shave combo/s. Its one of those, if it aint broke then dont fix it things. Wont even explain my first ordeal with a straight. Good lord! I can get BBS everyday if I dont switch my routine.....But I still venture out in search of that holy grail of shaving hardware

 

I like a straight now and then also. Sorry they did not work for you. this is the one I just bought.Dave will not like it course it is plastic handle. But I have one that is more of a show piece that shaves great. got it for $2.25 and $6.95 after shipping a bit of insurance cause of the case.

 

Very nice find.....Something also about using a blade that looks like a blade i would put in a box cutter creeps me out Shep needs to at least try it out!

 

It looks like a box cutter blade but much better quality. Anyone that wants to try one can let me know, I will gladly send out a loner.

What are we talking about? Gems or straights? Dom was supposed to be sending out a straight for me to try, but I think that fell through. He couldn't get it honed up or something.

 

Talking about gems. He just mentioned straights so I pointed out I like them too.
To me it is just an incredible shave.

Fuzzy I struck out at the local antique shop. Someone must have purchased the Gem they had down there for about 4 months. Oh well there is another town close to me that had a couple and one of them, I think, was the lather catcher.

 

I just got another one off the bay... it is a newer model but they shave well too. Just let me know and I can send you one to try.

Let me have a looksie at the antique store in a city close to me next week and if they don't have one I will take you up your offer. If I remember correctly it was only like $10 or so.
