I have been doing the stropping thing the last few days and it has helped. It hasn't extended my blade life but I do notice a better 1st shave with the technique. I have been using Daves technique on the palm of my hand.

I get too many shaves out of each blade I dont need to. I just had one of those night time shaves. Used a VDH brush, PreDeProvence soap, and TSD sig scent AS splash. Used injector also. I faced lathered and it went quite well...in fact perfect! The VDH brush doesnt hold enough soap for a 3 pass but thats ok. I havent really given the cheap brush a chance but its slowly getting better My face feels so good! That PdP is some really good stuff! TSD sig scent also smells incredible! I prefer morning shaving but I was just too lazy today.

You know, I've shaved with a slant the last two days. First time ever using one, it's a vintage Merkur. Seems a little light to me, I find it difficult to get a decent shave without having to use pressure to compensate for the lightness.

Anyway, one thing I've noticed is that my stubble seems.....sharper? Like it used to when I shaved with a Mach3. Using my vintage Gillettes the stubble seems more blunt.

Weird.

 

Weird....the stubble shouldnt be different but i know if you dont get as close of shave it seems to be "sharper" . The blade would probably be to blame then? I had good success with the newer slant but still got rid of it. Might go back one day but I am happy with the current set up. It was a fun razor though!

 

I might end up trying that but not yet.... My shaves are just fine with me for now.

If I were to get myself a slant it would be a vintage one. I saw one on the bay the other day. But I am working on getting a few lather catcher Gems so the rest will have to wait.

Damn you are fast! Cant keep up I went to do a TSD order....and the Polynesian scent is out of stock I have been waiting and waiting and decide to make the plunge again and struck down! Oh well...still trying to refine my list. Not getting as crazy as Ray though.

 

I will wait then I know you have been overloaded, sick, and busy. Let us know when the goods come in I really dont need it but sure got a desire for a few of the scents of SS and AS and maybe even get crazy with a cologne The darn Ray did it to me:happy102 But no cotton candy

 

Alright folks......been up since 3 AM so I am tired. Got 30 pages of my book left so I will go ahead and knock that out tonight. Be back in the morning. Kind of stinks I threw off my shave routine....no shave in the AM I do kind of like that cheap boar brush though! Would want to bowl lather with but works quite nice on the face! Almost de-funkified also!

I got a VDH that i do it all with... I mostly use the Vintage Badger Ever Ready i was given for christmas.. but the Boar works well for me.
