When I was growing up my grand dad used fly rods to Jig with. Not sure if you know how to jig fish or not.. but to answer the question. No I have never fly fished.

I jig fish through a hole drilled in the ice with a jigpole and ice flies/lures/jigs. I've used wetflies through the ice too. Sometimes something different can get you a good bite. I jig fish in summer as well for those crappies and bluegills. I tend to mostly flyfish during summer months and spend time wading in local rivers and streams. I hope to visit WY this spring to flyfish there. I have flyfished in CA,MT,MN,UP-MI,NM,CO and IL.

Never iced fished but love to white perch and blue gill fish. getting close on to night fishing time at my grand parents place on toledo bend lake.

'bout that time here, too.

If nothing pops up by tomorrow afternoon that screams "buy me", I'll probably pull the trigger on a BIN lot of NOS Platinum-Plus off the bay. Gotta grab all of those I can before they're all gone

 

Here we have yellow perch in the lakes. They were biting this morning on florescent orange ice jig tipped with a wax worm.

 

They about hand size?

That is the least of the reason I am broke all the time. I got ya shave stick covered by the way if it works out around 4 each.

the crappie I keep run 10 inches or more the yellow perch around 8. I don't like to clean littler fish than I have in my tank.

Tks Bunny. I was thinking shave stick for camping/travel. Maybe I'll get that Gem razor by Friday so I can soak in the tub and try it out! I got blades in town today at family dollar.
