Mamaw's oxygen level plummeted before she left. She's still in the hospital.

    Folks,

I put a package in the mail this morning to Hardlyanic with the desire to brighten his day...sounds like things are a little rough right now. I sent the Arko stick, along with a Semogue 1200 boar brush, a couple packs of Voskhods, and some soap samples (B&M/Sterling). I am sure many of us have him in our thoughts and prayers.

    Happy to help........

    Okay, so get this...
My sis-in-law quit her teaching job last year to babysit. Well, she got a call a week or so ago about an opening at a different campus, and her chances for getting the job looked pretty good, so, she applied, and interviewed.

Way to go sis! She got the job!

Today, when she told the parents she sits for that she would no longer be keeping kids, one of them chewed her out.

Am I wrong in thinking that parent is an "entitled" jerk?

    A) congrats to SIL.
    B) yes, I'd concur in that estimation on the surface... I can't really say they're of the "entitled" mindset without knowing them, but that is definitely wrong to chew her out for that. If she did something wrong, endangered their children, etc, yes, that could be justifiable... But not on this.

On that note....things have been HOLY CARP busy past few weeks....biggest news being my wife resigned from her teaching job for the year (technically, "retired") so that she could pursue her nursing degree. This part of the program is a full year, only during the day, program, so completely incompatible with continuing teaching, unfortunately. Therefore, ~60% of our barely-enough income is gone. Thus comes in the "retired" part, and pulling that money just to make it this year. Plus extra duties for me, and a part-time job for her. Very scary steps, but God has done nothing but confirm everything each step of the way. Had a lady (non-family) pay off her student loans from last year....and we have reason to believe she wants to do the same next year. WHO DOES THAT???! $10,000 dollars of current student debt, gone. $10,000 of upcoming student loan debt, probably gone.
Still have to tighten the ol' sphincter to make it through this year, cut out as much extra as we could (didn't have much to begin with), but we both have a peace about it. Don't know what's gonna happen next year, or tomorrow, but taking one step at a time, on faith.
Other than that, was able to make it to family reunion this year, that was uncertain, due to $$$ and time (didn't know if she'd have a summer job at the time or not), but we made it. Got something I haven't had in decades while there - a sunburn. Was only at the beach 6 hours, don't know how that happened :innocent. Did catch a dolphin jumping on video, though, so that was cool. I'll try to post it some time a make a link here.
On the way home, started having messages pop up on wife's vehicle, Service Traction Control, Service Stabilitrack....no bueno. This just a few months after having to have the transmission rebuilt. And right before she starts her daily 30 mile on-way trip to aforementioned nursing classes/clinicals. Then that brings up how in the world are we gonna be able to afford feeding that SUV every week....but, still gotta walk by faith.

There's been much, much more going on since last time I've been able to get on here, but doggone if I can recall it all right now.

Probably gonna be going through shave gear soon to put up for sale, if anyone be interested.

Other than that, gotta get back to work, LOL

The last time I loaded a semi trailer I was driving a forktruck and I was much younger. Now I'm doing it by hand and I'm much older. I do have a dolly but...man.

If you hear news out of Ohio, "Middle aged man found in back of semi trailer," you'll know.

Not at all. That person is extraordinarily selfish and taking their bad luck out on your sister.

Congratulations to your sister and I hope things go well for her! Qualified teachers are always in demand—as are qualified babysitters.
It is unfortunate for those parents who must now find another babysitter. Life happens. And let's be honest—people are entitled to find the vocation of their choice, and not dependent upon those whom it may inconvenience.
I remember leaving a successful advertising design business years ago for ministry work, and you wouldn't believe the flak I received from both customers and co-workers alike. Why, didn't I know that my leaving inconvenienced them? ;)
No apologies necessary (yet I did tell them I was sorry, but....;)) and I have had no regrets with the choice.

I clearly need better hobbies. I spent much of the day crocheting a turtle cozy for my stuffed turtle, Maya. It's pink camouflage, in case she wants to blend in with flamingos.
