That's pretty wild. I'm from north Georgia, and my fiancé is from northern Alabama and we all say "crappy" and "Rah-men".

Children are a joy to be around (apart from to a gentleman I read about in another forum whose niece kept poking her finger into all of his shaving creams and brushes whenever visiting. He was frustrated ;). Children and shaving are in fact similar in a sense - they usually have a meditative effect on me: I'm present in the moment rather than somewhere in the future or past.

Sorry about your mom. I have experienced a so-called unspecific or reactive arthritis in a toe and a few finger joints, flaring up every now and then. But getting it in the hip joint must be quite incapacitating. I hope she's recovering. (My mom and my grandma both suffer from arthrosis and have undergone hip replacement surgery, but that's something else, I guess.)

Mom is doing a bit better today. She said she is feeling less pain and getting out of bed a little more. So her mood is also a tad better. She expects to transfer to a rehab facility today or tomorrow. Here at home, I spent a good part of the day making holiday candles, to give as gifts.

Erik Redd Lizabeth, baby, I'm comin' to join ya.

Kind of like pecan - the proper pronunciation is puh-con, although some mistakenly pronounce it pee-can. We all know a pee-can is something you keep under your bed in case it's too cold to go to the outhouse at night.

Returned to my local coffee shop after not having had the time to stop by for several weeks. Felt a bit like walking into Cheers as I was greeted by name and coffee served up without even ordering.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name.... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449335320.164015.jpg

attempting my first ever beef stroganoff for dinner tonight. Using coconut cream instead of sour cream due to lactose intolerance.

Don't think I can ever eat beef stroganoff again....for some reason this was a favorite to be served at our school when I was a kid (maybe it was easy to hide cheap meat in it).

Yep. Easy way to hide cheap meat and stretch a meal.

Today is day one of this 30 day if paleo meals plan. I don't intend to follow it 100% but my goal is to cut out all processed food and alcohol. Hopefully by Christmas I won't feel as disgusted with myself and can enjoy being around my family.

We took a drive to PA yesterday, to pick up my husband's bow, from the pro shop that repaired it. After an injury to his elbow, he got to shoot for the first time in a while. He really enjoyed it & so did I.

Stroganoff has a certain eighties-early nineties connotation to me, yet, if well prepared, it is really good, and quite simple to make too. How did it turn out, @richgem ?

Yeah, it's definitely "old school" comfort food. But, I had some beef tips that I didn't want to turn into stew.

Anyhow, all-in-all it turned out good. The recipe needs a few tweaks tho. A little more salt and fresh-ground black pepper and the recipe called for too much flour in the sauce. So, the "gravy" was thick and floury instead of creamy. Still tasty tho. I'd cut back on the flour and add more liquid (beef broth or maybe coconut liquid) next time. This particular recipe also called for a tsp. of mustard. I used Dijon and I'd probably put a bit more next time. It adds a nice something. The meat was a little tough, but that's expected.

I can't get a pic to upload at the moment for some reason. I'll post one later. Here we are:
