Tired...seems like the days have gotten longer since the time change. Too early to go to bed, to late for a nap. Finally got my gal's xmas present from SC today, along with 25 Gillette Platinums and 35 7 o'clocks, and the rain covers for my gloves. Been piecing together my touring gear for spring, refinanced my car (and cut my rate in half), and ordered *more* blades (15 Wilkinsons, 25 Astras, and 10 Israeli Personas) so I'll stay stocked up (and try out different blades). Still waiting on my boot covers, but they should be here Monday. Still in the planning stages of my spring ride, probably hunt for ghost towns in the San Angelo are. Lots of wide open spaces out there.
I just told my wife I was going to build a shelf for my shaving gear. She just "oh my god....how much stuff did you just order?" Lol not enough......not enough
Spent a day downtown at the Eaton's Center shopping, lunch and The Bay department store Christmas window display. Decided to go to a brick and mortar shave shop (another 15min in some traffic) Purchased some Poraso and a few 5 pack trial blades. Got to try some new scents. Really like Henri et Victoria La Poire Francaise Shaving Soap but they were sold out. Nice selection of creams and soaps as well of some other goodies. Best part of day was making wife happy as she indicated that during lunch. She get's a bit down during the cold dark winter days. I admit can be monotonous this time of year work to home low lighting. Christmas holiday events help the spirit.
About to go see how Disney did with a new franchise.... Fully expect the new Death Star to have "ears", and Luke to be in exile in Elsa's ice palace...
Following two busy services this morning, I enjoyed some 'quiet' time in the shop. Made some progress on a big Sheffield razor thats been sitting around for too long. It's taking shape…still needs a good final polishing and buffing, then off to the hones….
Well, my day is getting better. We are almost all packed for a week in San Francisco with our oldest for Christmas. Check-in complete with the airlines, have a number for @Darkbulb just in case we have some time to grab a cup of coffee. @RaZorBurn123 if you are around the bay at all this week, maybe we can meet as well. Anyhoo, over the nerves of getting ready to travel and have a variety of electronic devices charged or charging and are simply so excited to see our oldest son and his dear one.
Yes, in the Outer/Inner Richmond area - I think about 2 blocks from Golden Gate Park and between Geary and Fulton
Today I'm going to visit an old friend whom I haven't seen in years. Since SWMBO needs the car for work I am going to take my moped (nicknamed Su.........per Grover). It will be quite a trip: 145 km (aka 90 miles) at max. 45 km/h (28 mph). Well, legally max 45 km/h that is. As long as I don't have headwinds I can get to 55 km/h (55 mph). I've got a 3.5 liter tank (0.9 gallon) and she takes 50-60 km per liter (117-140 mi/gallon), so one full tank should do the trick. I'll sleep over tonight and drive home tomorrow. Weather forecast: 11 degrees Celcius (51.8 F), 6 Bft wind (about half the time head winds), some showers. Fun! I'll see if I can make some nice pics on the road. See ya!
Too much caffeine yesterday trying to get the house clean for the unexpected visitors that always pop in this time of year. Almost feels like a hangover today. Tried to get done while the step kids were at grandma's house. Turns out their dad showed up in town to take them for 3 days. . . Unannounced. 5 days without the kids in a row. I may invite someone else's kids over just for the noise. My exwife is still refusing to allow the court ordered visitation with me and since I have no money I cant do much about it yet. Takes a special kind of hateful to keep kids from a parent during the holidays. There is a reason she's an ex. Copious amounts of fluids and OTC painkillers and a trip to the library is on my plate today. Also handsanding razors, a pipe or 2 and a test shave for a newly partially honed razor. Plenty of time with my dark haired bombshell too. If the headache would ease off it'll be a great day.
Woke up this morning in wet San Francisco! Can't figure out where the 25 year olds keep the tea pot so may need to have coffee.
