Morning All! Well, it feels like we are having a heat wave with temps back in the double digits (F not C of course). Unfortunately, it looks like the warmer temps are going to be bringing more lake effect. We haven't had much this year but tomorrow evening we are driving to Notre Dame to see the Globetrotters (daughter wanted to go and listed tickets on her Christmas wishlist). We really need to stop scheduling things in South Bend during lake effect season. Oh and in case I vanished before the multi month ordeal was over... daughter's bunny is fine.
Open mouth... insert murphy's foot. Yeah, between the time I posted this and the time I left for work (about 30 minutes) we had two inches of lake effect (I know, that still isn't much). Nothing had been cleaned off the roads in that time and it was slip and slide all the way here. Ugh!
So sore....I don't know why they said know, but they wanted the server rack moved upstairs, while it was still full. All 42u. We got it up though! After taking half the stuff out, cause it was just way too heavy.
Our core switch bit the dust last week, fortunately we had a backup, but it was old, we had some tweaking to do, but yes, I do understand the headache
Well... I decided to make waffles from scratch this morning. Oops.. I got the batter ready and the iron hot; however, I can't find my wood clamps. Bgdaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I made Scottish Meat Pies (Scotch Pies) tonight to have with dinner! Man were they delicious!! The filling was Lamb seasoned with a bit of black pepper, white pepper, and a dash of salt (I also added a bit of gravy to keep the meat moist)! I have to admit that handling the hot dough (boiled the water and lard) was a big change from cold dough and was a lot of fun! I don't have the right types of mouldering for them, so I used my large muffin tin...which worked out well. Anyway, I just wanted to share!
Morning! I see that this is now a monthly thread instead of a weekly thread. Allrightythen.... I would have posted last night but I figured I would be last week brushed awayed... Well, no problems getting into South Bend and back. Family enjoyed the Globetrotters and it was a good Friday night. Saturday we went out to the lake to take pictures of the shelf ice. I selected a few to share below. We didn't see any penguins out there Rich, but they probably would have liked the water temps. There was a large oval broken area in the ice off shore where it looked like something big had broken through. Maybe the "seal" was lurking. Yesterday it was a dash to drive up to Michigan for the Michiana rocket launch and to get as many rockets launched and recovered as I could before we packed up for the incoming ice storm. Yay, I made it home in time. Unfortunately, I am using my wife's old DSLR. She only upgraded because this one is prone to shutter errors. And wouldn't you know it, on every single launch it had an error yesterday. Grrrrrr.. We have taken it to a repair shop. They had it a week and couldn't replicate the error. Funny how almost anytime we use it, it fails. Obviously it isn't as windy this year. Last year these icicles were actually fully horizontal!
