How's your day? January 2016

My sister's surgery went well. She took a long time to come out of anesthesia, which is not unusual for her. So it was a long day, but she is not home with her grown son & daughter to help her. I am tired, but relieved.

I've been on a huge genealogy kick the last day or so. I was able to trace some family lines back to the 1500s. My grandpa (maternal) has hundreds of years of family history on the Orkney Isles (Scotland). It's pretty fascinating to find all this out!

Most of the information is from my mom's line. My dad's side isn't so lucky. I can go back to his grandpa...after that anything that has info on his family will be in German or Romanian...whereas my mom is British...so records are easy to come across due to no language gap.

 

Glad to hear she's on the mend!

I feel your pain. There is nothing quite like pool problems in the winter. Sounds like you can keep things under control. God luck!

 

Grown son and daughter and you had to take her to the hospital, huh? Sounds like she needs to work on the whole maternal guilt thing. Glad she's doing better.

 

Her daughter had just flown back from Israel & was in no shape to drive. Her son can not, due to a disability.

Kink in my left trapezius muscle. Hoping hot water bottle and IF muscle stimulator will ease the tension. Think I caught some cold air last night while out on the town.

 

Family outing skeet shooting today... 9 of us, 5 of them first time trying to shoot skeet.
But for the rest of us, it's been so long it wasn't an advantage LOL.
Everyone did well, except my daughter - out of about 35 shots, she only missed 4. Holy cow. Two different 20 gauges, and a 12 gauge pump, I think she's found a new favorite hobby LOL. Me and dad could only just look at each in amazement.

So, I'm guessing she'll be the one cleaning the shot gun when the boys come calling on her?

 

AM tutoring with my afghan student (it began at about 7:30 PM, her time) is always fun. She is a delight. Then, lunch for me was a mozzarella cheese & pesto omelet. I thought of adding the pesto at the last moment (it is something we almost always have) and it came out really tasty.

Yesterday I had a job interview as a fireguard. (making sure people in -for instance- chemical plants work safely when welding, brazing etcetera). Not my dream job, somewhat less wages than I have now, but perhaps a way to start working again!

Try adding some Zaatar herb mix to your next mozzarella pizza. Kaboom.
