I've grown ghosts once before and still have the better part of a gallon dried whole. I usually grind them and use in sauces, rubs, etc. I have a bottle of hot sauce in the fridge. I have eaten them fresh and also pickled them in the past. They are hot. I also have a couple Red Savina Habanero plants going now as well. I usually smoke and dry them. Toss one in a pot of soup or chili for about 30 minutes and it imparts a nice smoky zip without being overpowering. Here's a pic but it's a little hard to make out. Bottom Right is Yellow Cayanne, Next to it is a pair of habanero plants, green beans to the right, New Mexico Chilis and buttercup squash in the background.
Pretty good day. It's Friday and I had a lovely conversation with a lady friend. What more can you ask for? Well, a lot, but you get it.
My first 5 mile bike ride in the better part of a decade felt more akin to 500 miles. Yikes. I also don't remember my bike seat being that hard. Felt good to get out on the bike.
Hahahaha that's only in the beginning when (no pun intended) your butt is not used to it. In the beginning of the summer it really hurt to ride the bike, but I don't feel it anymore.
The good news is, the seat gets softer as your butt gets harder! That 5 miles will lead to 10, to 20...
We will see. When I was at university about 20 years ago, I worked as a cycle messenger. My bicycle was also my only mode of transportation and I used to ride between 500 and 700 miles a week year round. That was a long time and many pounds ago...
Just watched the World News. An airliner shot down over Ukraine, Libya degenerating into chaos. The news was disheartening tonite.
Yep, and I felt that way too once. I used to ride everywhere from the age of 8 to 23. I don't even know how far, this was back when GPS meant redoing your route in a car with an odometer that worked. Looking back, I think a slow day of casual riding was about 20 miles. I'll spare you the details but pounds later, sciatica later and 20 years later, I got on a bike again last summer and felt exactly like you did. Those 5 mile rides kicked my butt, hard. And then they didn't. And I traded the comfort bike for a fixie. And 5 miles seems like nothing, 13 doesn't flap me. At the beginning of this month I did a casual 30 mile ride where about the first 7 miles was uphill. On a fixie. If you rode that much when you were younger, I'm guessing you were feeling something that you hadn't felt in a long time and you liked it. There was also another voice saying it's too bad you'll never be able to ride like you did when you were younger. My advice is to grab hold of that first feeling with one hand, and strangle that voice with the other hand. If I can turn it around, trust me, so can you.
