I didn't sleep well last night at all, it never cooled down. I had a box fan blowing on me, the AC running and a cat snoring next to me. At least the cat slept. ;)

I have had a problem with poison oak/ivy since I was a kid. Nothing seemed to work in getting relief...none of the over the counter or prescription products gave relief. While clearing some weeds in my yard last week I unfortunately got in contact with poison oak/ivy. I tried Iverest and cortisone creams to no avail. I decided to Google the Inet. One post said to run hot water, as hot as you can stand, over the infected areas and the itching would go away. I tried this before my evening shower. Did it hurt...yes. Was it uncomfortable...yes. Did the itching go away...YES. PTL. As I sit here typing this response, I have no discomfort whatsoever. I will continue to use the topical ointments to aid in healing but will go the the hot water if needed. Who would've thought??????:angry032:

Today was much better, the boss, the Doc, and I decided I needed a Vacation. So off work for two weeks, spending time with my kidos who I dont get to spend much time with do to crazy hours. Thinking about hitting some antique malls in the morning with the wife. Although I have alterior motives to look for some vintage DE stuff. Wish me luck.

I've found hot water to provide only temp relief for me.
My problem is that nothing over the counter works. I have to go to the Dr. and get steroids.

My grandmother's sworn-by home remedy was to wash the affected area with laundry bleach ASAP and then wash it off thoroughly. I'm guessing the bleach breaks up the oils that cause the reaction.

Contrary to popular belief, poison ivy CAN get into the bloodstream, thus affecting areas that were no where near the contact site. That's what happens to me and the reason for the steroids.

Enough to make things shake, but no extensive damage or real consequence.
Looked to be a 2.7-4.0 in Fremont.

No damage. It's gonna take a lot more than 4.0 to rock the bay.
