I dunno if they'll go that high...but who knows. I remember seeing it in the news several weeks ago, maybe even before Christmas, but there wasn't any details mentioned besides an Elio Motors buying the old GM plant in Shreveport. Was talking about it to my brother in law yesterday, he sounds pretty gung-ho about it as well. My biggest reservations about it are: will my fat oversized added-value body size fit in the darn thing....and, will the kids (one at a time, of course) fit in the "back seat". But still...84 mpg, holy carp
very tempting. I would hesitate to drive one down here, given the state of drivers and the state of the roads. Still, if this or something like it becomes common I'll be seriously tempted when the time comes to replace my car.
edit: nevermind, heard back from the dealer... it's got 200k miles and the tires are about to pop on it. Won't pass inspection. Bummer.
"Paint job professionally done by Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem" (too bad it's not a Studebaker...)
Well I would seriously consider losing it. It would attract either giant bees or flaked out hippies, one of the two, or both.
I'm guessing there's also a Grateful Dead 8-track stuck in the radio. And a smell that ain't exactly "new car."
3 databases corrupted on the servers 3 days before leave is SUPPOSED to start before we take off to the field for 2 months. I think God is slightly ticked off at me for some reason...tomorrow is going to be a Redbull and keyboard annihilating day, I can tell already.
Ladies and (ahem) gentlemen... I'm gettin' a van! Went and looked at the '89 Dodge Mark III conversion van yesterday evening. Haggled a bit over the price and once I sign my loan papers this evening, I'm going to pick up my sweet new ride. Interior wasn't as nice as I'd hoped, but it is an '89 and the guy did have 6 kids. Besides, I was planning on tricking it out inside anyway, so as long as it's usable, I'm happy. For the price, I can't really complain. Heck, when I'm done with it, I'll get most of my money back in scrap on this massive beast. The 318 cranks smooth and purrs like a kitten. There is a little hum from the differential when you get up around 55, but as soon as you speed up or drop back, it goes away, so I can live with that. Now I just need to start pricing 8-track hi-fis and mini disco balls.
funny you should mention that... as I was walking out of walmart last night, I noticed some domo-kun fuzzy dice in a claw machine... the brown colour would actually match the van pretty well. I considered dropping a buck to try for them, but thought better of it.
