    Yup. We did have a flash flood watch, but it really didn't look that bad.... Of course looks can be deceiving, I didn't actually go drive around town and look at some of the common floody areas

    I wish I lived in a very small town. I live in the 10th largest city in America. It's not all that.

    San Jose was 'only' about 230,000 when I first moved there in the mid-60s. There were sill plenty of fruit orchards to be found. In fact, about half of my elementary school's campus, and the area surrounding Good Sam hospital was mainly apricot orchards. Incredible growth over the next 3o-40 years. It is too bad the growth of roadways to accommodate all those new folks always lags behind.

    I moved to San Jose in 74. 280 was a 4 lane highway, now it's 8. When I was a freshman at Cupertino HS the surrounding area was orchards. By the time I graduated condos had taken over. When I was a junior I went on a field trip, to this little company Apple Computers. San Jose is not just Silicon Valley, it's also Asphalt Valley..

    At work this morning, cleaning the office (extra duty "custodial" work...a little extra $$$). Listening to some jams, when I just had to stop and snicker at the humorous juxtaposition of tunes....Charlie Daniels Band's "Devil Went Down to Georgia", followed by DC Talk's "Jesus Freak" :D. MP3 Roulette* indeed. *

    {One of my coworkers actually coined the term "iTunes Roulette", but since I loathe and don't use iTunes, I can't exactly use that phrase}

    I think I've finally finished playing Desktop Support guy for now. My mom now has an upgraded laptop and new desktop for work and I've updated my neighbor's iPad and now gotten my mom's old desktop reloaded and ready for my neighbor to purchase. I'm posting this from an OpenSUSE virtual box and the new little Linux file server is running quietly in the office closet. For any interested I loaded Linux Debian "wheezy" on it and it's running ssh and samba.

    On the shaving front, my mom asked me about three weeks ago if I would help her get what she needed to get started. She now has an Omega 23mm Silvertip brush, 2 Lady Gillettes, a blade sampler, and some Gardenia and Honeysuckle Creams and soap samples from Joanna (which she loves BTW). Now, if I can keep her away from my razors and brushes I'll be doing good ;). She has already said that she wants to get used to it for a while and then try a few of my straights. I hope Glen doesn't mind putting pink scales on a razor or two ;).

    Back to the basement...
