Yesterday was special. We went to my cousin Lauryn's Bat Mitzvah. The ceremony was lovely & meaningful. It was great to see how wonderfully she & her brother are maturing and the day was a fun party for all of the kids (as such an event should be). But it was REALLY too loud for us grown-ups, so I am exhausted (though probably not as much as her parents are.)

Washed my car and my wife's car, walked for 2.5 miles and caught my son's bullpen. Nothing like warm weather to cure what ailes the head.

I went on a 20 mile bike ride with my wife on a beautiful day.

Went on a fantastic 275 mile round trip motorcycle ride up to my property outside Bryson City, NC. After the crazy weather we've had lately today was the perfect day for a sanity break. This is the view from the driveway of my lot.

It's looking to be a good day. Finally got a pork butt on the smoker at around 10 (better late than never) and got a decent shave. Hopefully USPS makes my day even better but I won't hold my breathe.

Good to hear on both fronts especially your wife getting out of the hospital.

First the bad news- my knees are really sore today. Now the good news- it's above freezing for the second day in a row.

I have a 3.5 acre lot in a gated subdivision about 10 miles outside of Bryson City, NC. The lot already has the rough grading for the building site set up. This photo was taken with me standing on the front edge of the building site. Now I just need to get both girls thru college or at least most of the way thru. Should be about 6-8 years or so. In the meantime, I try to use it for motorcycling camping several times a year because that area of NC is home to many fantastic motorcycle roads.

Been through the kids going through University. Something to look forward to later when they finish school, get good jobs, and support their parents. If that ever happens. NOT. :happy097:

This was on the tables in all areas of the office this morning. :) Its the write-up about Albi being National Builder of the Year!

    I had to share!

Anyway today was GREAT! I picked up my girls, and they were happy, then we drove to the hospital to see my wife. On the way I found a last minute babysitter for my 2 youngest for tomorrow, as tomorrows original babysitter had to cancel. We had an AWESOME visit with my wife and the girls ate ALL their food (we bought at the cafeteria...usually they just play with it). On the way out all the machines to pay for parking were broken, and the parking office was closed; So I went to pay at the gate...AND IT WAS OPEN ! Free parking at the hospital...awesome! I then turned on the radio for the drive home and it was airing a private concert for one of my favorite bands (Mother-Mother). We get home and my two youngest go to sleep without a fight, and my oldest quickly and happily cleans her room! :bounce017:

It has been an awesome evening...things have NEVER gone so well before in my life...its almost disturbing how perfect this night has been...

Anyway, I'm glad to finally have a good post in this thread.

Erik Redd Lizabeth, baby, I'm comin' to join ya.

In a Holiday Inn Express outside of Pittsburgh after a poor nights sleep. It's going to be a long day, but at least it's a lot warmer than when I was here three weeks ago.

Yesterday was a great day. I took 6 students to a final review session for the Colorado FFA Degree. This is a pretty prestigious level of achievement for FFA members. Typically, a little less than 1% of our members earn this degree each year. It combines having an outstanding agricultural project, increased membership involvement in FFA activities above the local level and leadership demonstrated through community service. All 6 of the young men passed the final review and will receive the degree in June at our state convention. I've never had more than 2 students receive their degree in any one year, so 6 is phenomenal. I am very proud of their accomplishments over their high school careers.
