Humbled by a Wilkinson brush

After having lunch with a friend he mentioned shaving with a brush... much to my surprise. He retrieved his Wilkinson Sword (made in Germany) boar brush that he's been using daily for several years. I see they are available for around $6.

It is a rubbery material that feels great in the hand and is actually a very good profile. He really enjoys the well broken in boar. He's still using carts and doesn't have much interest in any alternatives.

When I look at my assortment of badger brushes, many I consider luxury items, I am humbled by this utilitarian offering providing so much pleasure and so many great shaves.

Now I just have to get him some decent/more interesting soap.

Here is the still wet brush, and the bottom markings.

They are $6.90 and free shipping, on Amazon. I just ordered one.

I'll be interested to know if the material is the same...and if it is still made in Germany.

I hope mine is better built and holds up better than the two Burma Shave brushes i had. They were great, until they fell apart, suddenly.
    Where were the Wilkies made???
