    Probably mine too.
Or a slim. Never used one myself, but I hear they're just as good.
I think you can find one at a good price now. You can get them for similar prices to what you would pay for a brand new Progress. Trading the fact that they are used for the fact that they are plated brass instead of Zamak, I think that's fair. I've been using a Progress for about a week and I'm really finding it hard to choose between the two.
Try it wide open sometime. It's really not that scary. I think a lot of people adjust up until they get that first weeper, and then they back down assuming that it was too aggressive. If you'll stay there for a few shaves, you might find your technique adjusting just enough to give you an even better shave. The first time I opened mine up to 9 for a head shave I got 3 good weepers, but it was a great shave. I went back down to 8 and found that the shave wasn't nearly as good. I cranked it back up to 9 and found after a couple of shaves there it wasn't any more dangerous than any of my other razors. The only time I nick myself is when I have shaving bumps that pretty much any of my DEs would have caught.

I have not tried adjustable razors yet but have been curious about them. my main question is does it matter???? do you get a closer shave with one?

I get a closer shave with mine, but what helps me is that I can go easier on my neck by dialing down a bit. My cheeks can take, and I prefer, setting the razor on 9, but I find 7 or even 6 on my neck helps prevent irritation while still getting a nice close shave.
If I want to do buffing or other touch up, I can dial it down more.

With different blades I use different settings on my Adjustables. and I do enjoy shaving with them

I've got a '58 Executive, '58 Fat Boy, '61 Fat Boy, '65 Slim, '70 Super Adjustable and a '75 Super Adjustable and like to shave with all of them. But, you're right, it doesn't really matter, a close shave is a close shave. The point is, whether I get a close shave with a vintage OC, or a SS, an adjustable or my EJ DE89 I still enjoy it. An adjustable is just another way to enjoy myself.

    Good reply!!!!

And, my Slim adjustable has replaced my Fatboy as my favorite adjustable razor. I like the little less heft; less size of the head; feel in my hand. Please do not get me wrong, I still love the Fatboy. Both are engineering marvels that none of the modern day manufacturers can match. And just think, the old Gillette adjustable razors were engineered without CAD and computers.

Sweet deal, nice looking razor. I'm fighting RAD right now. But being in my first month of DE shaving, I know I need to get my technique established before I go off and buy things I shouldn't use yet. But, if I see a nice Fat Boy that hasn't been bid on yet, I may just take a stab at it to see if it falls in my lap. I only have one razor (a 56 Super Speed Flair tip). I need another one in case it breaks, or jams, or gets dirty, or I can't find it... ;)

Chris Evatt at RazorPlate did the plating. He and I tossed around a couple different ideas. I thought this looked a bit like a black handle super speed. He also replated my '58 Executive in 24kt gold.

I recommend him highly. He had suspended work because of his backlog, so I don't know if he restarted taking work yet. Check the RazorPlate website for his email, if you're interested.

It is a fun and practical hobby. It's actually quite addictive collecting razors and all of the other things that go with it. The super speed is a fine razor to start with, but I love the fat boy!

BTW, nice guitar. Is that a semi-hollow Gibson? I like the tailpiece and tremolo bar.

Thanks, it's an Ibanez Artcore AFS75T. It's a full hollow body, but thin. Wonderful tone, nice for Jazz, Blues, and Rockabilly (I wish I could play well enough to live up to it). I like it amplified, but it has enough volume to enjoy without an amp. I really wished I hadn't set it down last year. It's staring at me right now making me feel guilty. I need to start playing again. So much to do, so little time! :sad024:

I hear you. I've got a Gibson ES 335 TD sitting in a closet collecting dust. It used to be that I couldn't put it down years back. It's a sweet guitar.
