As Sara has already mentioned, possibly consider getting yourself a double edge razor, you will certainly notice a better closer shave, especially around your top lip where you seem to be having problems, with regards to the dark growth, like everybody else has already said something that you will just have to live with, I have quite a coarse beard and a fine whispy tash, looks ridiculous when I try and grow a full beard, but now a double edge razor user and lovin' it!!!
There are loads of YouTube videos showing how. Some of the guys here can probably provide some links.
You could try an electric razor over the trouble area before you normal shaving routine. I'm not sure if it would help, but it may be worth a try.
Normality? Overrated! Light-skinned people want to tan. I knew many dark-skinned people while I lived in Mexico who yearned to be light. Wishing for blonde hair. Wishing for dark hair. Wishing for curls. Wishing for blue/brown/green eyes. Wishing for lots of friends. Wishing for peace and quiet. Wishing for money. Wishing for simplicity. If you allow your happiness to be dictated by how you think others perceive you, you'll never be happy. This is a feature you own. It doesn't stop you from watching the stars. Or listening to beautiful music. Or learning a new subject. I say shave comfortably, live appreciatively, and love unconditionally.
Nice to meet you Jeff. I also have to shave against the grain to get a smooth lip. I am no expert as I am fairly new to wet shaving but I'll tell you how I get my lip smooth. First I bought a double edge safety razor and a sample pack of double edge blades (astra superior platinum are my favorite so far). Then I bought a shaving brush and some shaving soap, alum block, witch hazel, pre-shave oil, and a post shave balm w/o alcohol. Note: anything with menthol provides a cooling effect w/o the burning sensation that I find helps greatly. When I'm shaving my lip I lather up and shave with the grain (light touch, no pressure). I don't try to get all the hair with the first pass. Then I re-lather and shave across the grain on my lip either from the middle out towards the ears or from the ears towards the middle. Again not trying to get all the hair. Then I lather up again and shave against the grain using a technique called buffing. It's hard to explain but there are a lot of shaving videos on youtube. Doing this I have a much smoother face and lip than ever before and shaving is not a chore anymore but something that I look forward to everyday! After I'm done a rinse with hot water, then cold water, use the alum block, then rinse with cold water again, splash with witch hazel. I sometimes get a little too aggressive with my razor and have to remind myself to ease up. It will take a little bit to get used to wet shaving so if you decide to try it give it at least 30 days! This is what works for me and I've never been happier with my face! Good luck and cheers!
i know thats kinda weird...but thats the stache after like a day, and the chin after a few. the stache just looks like it grows differently, from what i think is caused, by shaving against the grain for so long. i just want it all to grow evenly and look like it grows evenly. no matter what, always looks like a have a stache, especially from a distance.
