...or one of us could show up on the next episode of Hoarders. I think it would be a funny episode, actually. There'd be a steady stream of guys showing up and carting off boxes of shaving supplies. No need for A&E to hire a cleaning crew.
If they are half as prepared as him I want to join their safe shave room I liked most of the tremor movies. Little corny and fake and bad... but HEY love them. Great movies the newest one was pretty lame though...
Waxing slightly philosophical concerning this scenario. Should one, if they know that it will definitely happen beyond the shadow of any reasonable doubt, stock up everything they deem pertinent for impending doom, or should one just "surrender" and buy a multi-blade and foam/gel knowing that he or she is going to have to do it anyway when the inevitable arrives? In terms of movies, I'm thinking "Die Hard" or, I don't know, "Terms Of Endearment"? (No offense, I know that movie is a tearjerker).
SE razor blades are still being made to this day. But when was the last time a SE razor was manufactured? Shaveocalypse is a lot of hype.
I think there will always be a niche market... but probably slowly go away. Well right now I think it is growing as there is the internet and everybody who is not pleased with a 10 blade cartridge that costs 5 dollars will google it. Then come upon TSD, B&B, SRP, blogs, or articles showing how much better DE/SE/Straight shaving is. GO INTERWEBZZZ
It was all started by a blogger when his favorite blade was discontinued by Gillette, the super iridium. That has happened many times before to all sorts of razors, blades, creams, and soaps, so I wouldn't put much stock in it any time soon. If anything it will happen sooner or later to tallow based products and animal hair brushes, due to PC by the EU. IMO
I am going to have to make my fall purchases soon, and I'll buy with the Shaveapocalyspe in mind...First on the list is menthol out the ying-yang...If I don't get the menthol, then I'll break my menthol-cratic oath...and you don't want to know the consequences of breaking that oath.
I don't put much stock in it either. Like Williams Warrior said, it was largely started by one blogger (and former member of several shave boards...I believe he's been invited to leave every one of them) because his favorite blade was discontinued. I've been using a mug and brush since the early 90's when all I knew to be available were Burma Shave boar brushes and either Colgate or Williams soaps. Fast forward to 2008 when I discovered DE shaving, TSD and other boards, and now straight razor shaving. Since that time I've seen several new vendors open their online stores, a few close, and other expand their offerings. Things might change some and some of our favorite products MIGHT go away, but I don't see DE shaving going away entirely...and if it does, I still have my straights (both of which are older than my 78 year old father and still in great shape).
