SE SOTD, Friday, December 15th 2023

Razor : Yaqi Romulus 316 SSP head with a Yaqi Chippendale 316SSP handle- Mfg 2023, mild range. Excellent machining and finish QC. The Romulus does have positive blade exposure from new, to bump the Romulus up a notch if a person likes more blade feel you can use the Feather super pro blades or just use a 6-10/ 1000 inch shim works well for more blade gap. The razor performs well and is nimble to wield about the face with ease. It glides nicely and I'm very happy with it. Had a close comfortable shave this morning on 24hrs growth.
Blade : Kai SS captain titian(2) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. Kai makes some nice blades IMO.
Soap : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier- nice scented soap (Aramis classic dupe) with excellent lather qualities. One of my favorites. Yaqi commissioned Master soap creations for line of soaps and aftershaves.
Brush : Yaqi "Barber pole" 24mm 2band badger. Excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. Nice big handle for big hands and knot is a great performer for my lathering needs.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier splash + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + Alum + no irritation + 2 weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Romulus razor + a Kai Captain titian mild . (Almost perfect shave but a few weepers so took off some points, 24 hours growth with not much to shave off from yesterdays close shave!)

The long awaited Gem Zinn automatic shave. I loaded a Schick Proline B20, the spring has plenty of tension to hold the blade in place. Positioning the blade was a tad fiddly but not to bad. The import part is the shave quality. The shave was very efficient yet exceptionally comfortable. I'm super excited to finally have this beautiful razor in my collection.

Thanks to @James Kleinkauf for the generous pif of the brass Micromatic Open Comb. The only other Gem currently in my rotation is a brass Ever-Ready 1912. The MMOC is considerably more aggressive and delivered a somewhat smooth and very efficient shave. Now I’m waiting for delivery of two more Gems, purchased on the Bay, a nickel finished Micromatic Open Comb and a Gem Push Button.

The Archaic Alchemy Eureka Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #423 Two-band Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the J.A. Henckels Rapide Lather Catcher and a Henckels Wedge Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur SE 50mm, with a Yaqi Milano SSP handle- Mfg 2021>, tame mid range. Simple clamping system + small head parts (I assemble on wash cloth) make for a small nimble razor. I have used this razor well over 100 times over 2 years and it gives a decent shave 95%> of the time. Good daily driver IMO. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Schick proline (4) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. Good combination with my Excalibur razor.
Soap : Razorock XXX Fresco mentholated- it still has the similar XXX original clean scent but mentholated + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Moka express" 26 mm Husky knot. Excellent lather generator, Heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, Gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Nice sale brush for what I paid. 26mm Yaqi knots are perfect for my shaving needs.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock XXX Fresco with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Excalibur with a Schick proline.

The TSD Iced Lemongrass Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #292 High Mountain White Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem Damaskeene Razor and a Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Razor : Gem Feather Weight(1OZ)- Mfg 1950-52 1st gen, 1953-54 2nd gen, mild to tame mid range. Well built to last many generations with a little care, the chrome is well done on this razor like most Gem razors. I must of had just the right pressure on this light razor for very nice shave. Had a stellar close & comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(3) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock M.F. - nice cologne fragranced soap with excellent lather qualities. Great sale on black Friday so why not.
Brush : Yaqi "Ferrari" 24mm boar bristle. Excellent lather generator, soft split end boar bristle hairs, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock M.F (interesting cologne fragranced splashed 6-7/10 strength that lasts) with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a stellar close comfortable shave this morning with my Gem Feather weight razor with a Gem coated blade.
