I've been using my Type G 1953-54 for the last few shaves. Very nice. Before that, I was using my Type E with the grooves on the safety bar. At first, I was enjoying the E, then after a few days my face was getting irritated. I'm liking the G much better now since the shave results are pretty much the same, but feel smoother.

I was using a vintage Schick blade in the E, in a red white and green case. For the G, I've been using a Supply blade in the white plastic case. Don't know if the blade is the big difference I feel. As always, too many permutations to try to come to a definitive conclusion, and sometimes I just want to shave.

Cream has been Gillette Pure -- bought a few years ago -- not sure if you can even get it anymore. Synthetic brush from Maggard.

Razor : Yaqi Romulus 316SSP SE with a Yaqi Chippendale 316 SSP handle- Mfg 2023>, mild to tame mid range(depends on blade, Feather Super pro blade bumps it up a notch or shim it). Machining and Finish QC are excellent. Small head parts when assembling and removing blade I like to work on a wash cloth for less issues of dropping or scratching beautiful finish. I had a stellar close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Kai Captain titan mild(3) sharp and Smoooth with reasonable longevity.
Soap : Ach Brito cream - nice scented Lavender with a touch of mint + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi " Moka express" 26mm Husky synthetic knot. Excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Bought this one on sale, marketing test piece I'm thinking?
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ach Brito Lavanda + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a stellar close comfortable shave this morning with my Romulus SE AC 50mm SSP with a Kai Captain titian mild blade.

Ooooooo. I love the finish on that razor. It looks like vintage silver or possibly bronze.

 

Thank you. The razor is brass. I used a solution that antiques the brass. Over time the high spots wear off some of the finish to expose the brass. I like not having to polish the razor.
