The Stirling Pharaoh's Dreamsicle Shave Soap lathered well with Semogue SOC Boar Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the 1907 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher and a Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pharaoh's Dreamsicle After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

First shave with the Clauss Automatic. It has a unique way of opening and closing to load and hold the blade. A de-spined Gem SE blade was used and works well. Also I'm excited to have finally found a Dragons Blood scented shave soap. I've been looking for one for around 15 years. A friend made me a great smelling dragons blood soap but it didn't lather well. This one has great scent that lasts a long time and it lathers very well. I found it at therazorcompany.com I will have to try some of subtle art soaps other scents in the future.

Razor : Star bar #4 Lather catcher- Mfg 1919-20, tame mid range. Excellent razor for my beard type, with over 60 razors in my den this little gem seems to out perform a lot more modern and vintage razors with perfect shaves with a fresh Gem PTFE blade.
It is light, old, made of stamped sheet metal with a nickel coating yet it out performs!
Kudo's to older craftsman of that era who knew what the boss wanted and needed for sales to keep the doors open. Had a stellar close comfortable shaver this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(1) very sharp, excellent longevity, smoooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock XXX, nice clean unique scented soap with excellent lather qualities. One of my favorite's.
Brush : YAQI "Mysterious space" 24mm Timberwolf knot. Excellent lather generator, luxury heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle perfect splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. This knot and handle are perfect for my shave needs it seems.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock XXX with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Star bar razor with a fresh Gem coated blade. (It does not any better a shave IMO!)

Here is another interesting razor and another excellent soap. The 7 O'clock razor takes a proprietary blade. Luckily a Gem blade with the spine removed and a little modification works in it. Fortunately the Moon Soaps Amaretto was much easier to use. It lathered very easily and smells wonderful.

SE SOTD, Wednesday, March 20th 2024

Razor : Yaqi Katana SE (1/2 DE blade) with a Yaqi retracting or extending handle. Mfg 2019>, tame mid to mid range. This is a interesting razor to use and results are good mostly. Secret for me to use this razor head is to snap blade and lightly tighten blade and then bump blade into place with a blade tuck box and then secure with a normal tightening pressure to secure blade. With a very short length of handle this razor is very nimble to use and a joy to use. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gillette Astra(1) sharp and smooth with excellent longevity.
Soap : Cyril R Salter Wild rose, nice rose fragranced cream with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Barber pole" 24mm 2band badger. Excellent lather generator, Luxury pillow like soft tips, Nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. Nice large handle for larger hands with a Excellent knot.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Italian barber(AKA Razorock) splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Katana SE with a Gillette Astra blade.
