@Electrif ’s 1914 inspired me to break out my 1924 which, coincidentally appears to be a cousin of his. Both the 1914 and 1924 are among my favorite razors, maybe my favorite SEs. Anyhow, a wonderful shave all the way around, a real pleasure

A very pleasant Shave using a rarely used cream, rather than a Soap.Made a change from the norm, and the lather was thick and rich and made the Shave go smoothly, and with no sign of the blade tailing off the finish was very good.

 

SE SOTD, Sep 3rd 2021

Razor: Yaqi Excalibur V1- Mfg 2021- excellent tame mid range, nice to manipulate the face & light weight. Aluminum handle.
Blade: Kai Protouch(6)+ Chinese Blue brand(1) The Protouch seemed tuggy so changed out to the Blue brand. Protouch excellent blade, Blue brand are OK, Very sharp, but not a lot of longevity I'm finding. 50 mm blades that sit for some time will lose some sharpness! Gem PTFE rules for longevity IMO.
Soap: Gillette Pure cream, nice scent with great lather qualities at a great price.
Brush: Yaqi lucky dice 26mm tuxedo knot, excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, excellent scrubber + great lather painter + great for folks with large hands that like a nice scrub IMO.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock American barber(nice scent with staying power)with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm with HA.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = excellent shave with my Yaqi Excalibur V1 with a Blue blade.

Yaqi Heavy Metal - Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood - Canadian Schick E3 - NOS Canadian Schick Super Stainless #3 - Cien X-Bolt A/S - Aloe Vera Gel

After OSP Sandalwood, this is my next favourite Sandalwood scent.

 

Back to the D with a NOS Dutch Schick blade. Normally these “dog’s danglies” are the smoothest, best shaving blades you can find. Tonight, though, the blade was a bit sharp. Super close shave but not the sweet feel I usually get from this lovely D. Lovely scent from the Trafalgar

So I read up on an old post on this razor and t was described as extremely efficient with the wedge blade and takes a Modern Gem but with it and the abyss of a blade gap is and I quote, "This combination is massively aggressive!" and he had the straight bar version I will concur that it is aggressive but if you have your technique down and respect it, it gives a super smooth and effective shave with glass smooth results. Coffee............I NEED Coffee..........and a Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffin. Have a great weekend everyone !!

I think I am going to have to try that soap, it looks nice. In terms of performance what would you compare it to?
Nice looking set up except I presume that the brush is a synthetic? Love the razor.
I think if I went this route I might actually get a new brush-something with a natural finish wood handle. Maybe a Semogue Owner's Club? Any suggestions?
