Looks deceive, despite its bulk the Hiram is quite a nimble operator, and delivers an excellent close all round finish without any hassle.

 

Wow....forgot about that Mysic Water soap. I'll need another look at her lineup.

 

I really appreciate the reverence shown to your 3D razors by way of your custom cases. I recently found someone with a printer who is interested in printing out several of the razors you routinely showcase. I have been using vintage GEMs almost exclusively this past month and am interested in comparing them to the printed ones. Thanks for the inspiration!

 

SE SOTD, Nov 5th 2021

Razor: Yaqi Excalibur V2, Mfg 2021> tame mid range, easy to manipulate the face, well designed & affordable.
Blade: Schick P30(7) Excellent blade, Sharp & smooth with good longevity.
Soap: Gillette Pure, nice mild clean scent with excellent lather qualities (misted).
Brush: Yaqi Viper boar brush 24mm, excellent lather creator, soft split end hairs, great scrubber + good lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash the whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Brush wash the whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Post shave: Razorock The dead Sea with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizer lotion balm + scentless.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= excellent shave with my Yaqi Excalibur V2 + a Schick P30.

Another shave, another GEM razor.

Last night was my first shave with a MMOC and it was great! I like the weight, length of the handle, blade feel, pretty much everything. I loaded a second use stainless PTFE blade and face lathered a soap I won recently as part of a giveaway. The soap lathers easily and smells great. A very pleasant surprise was how well this razor works for my trouble spot along the jawline. I normally have to buff and almost never achieve an acceptable result. This is the only razor so far that was able to get that area smooth with a single ATG pass. Very impressive. I'm Im calling it a 9/10 DFS+ result.

 

Great shave tonight even though it was a bit rushed. I keep trying to like boar brushes but for some reason the lather always falls apart very quickly compared to my badger brushes. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The brush feels fine when lathering although I think my badgers have more backbone. The boars I have all seem floppy to me.

Was looking forward to this one as I always get a much smoother shave after the first Gem blade use.

Day 6 of 3D Printed Razor Month.

The Mystic Water Cedar & Sage Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #144 Finest Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Wabbit 3D Injector Razor with a Personna Injector Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

DE SOTD, Nov 6th 2021

Razor: Gillette Fatboy E4-Mfg 1959, excellent designed razor, I get smooth shaves from this razor, one of my enjoyable Gillette's.
Blade: Gillette Astra Superior stainless(5) excellent blade, Sharp & smooth with good longevity.
Soap: Razorock XXX, nice fresh scented soap with excellent lather qualities.(misted)
Brush: Yaqi 26 mm red Zebra synthetic excellent lather generator, heavenly cloud soft tips, 100% luxury scrubber, excellent painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser. Left some CeraVe soap on beard area instead of a dollop of Aloe Vera gel for change.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock XXX(nice clean scent when dried) with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizer lotion balm(scentless)
Results: CCS, DFS,BBS + no irritation + 1 weeper(operator error)=Excellent shave with my Gillette Fatboy with a Astra SS blade.

Trying the SE1 with another guarded blade, having found that the Kai Protouch worked so well in it. Another good result after a very quick and efficient Shave - a good close all round finish.

A good Shave yesterday but better today after freshness of blade worn off. Taken me some time to get around to using this guarded blade in this Razor, certainly delivers a very efficientShave with a good finish.

Sunday Schick shave, Nov 7th 2021

Razor: Schick injector i2 with Hydro-magic- Mfg 1954-57, excellent tame mid range, easy to work the beard areas, mostly carefree shave this morning.
Blade: Personna injector SS PTFE(1) excellent very sharp blade, great longevity, smooths out nicely & predictable.
Soap: Razorock XXX, nice scent + excellent lather qualities.(misted)
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Moka synthetic, excellent lather generator, heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle scrub + great lather painter.
Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on the cleaned beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock XXX with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizer lotion (balm)+ scentless.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= excellent shave with my Schick injector i2 with Hydro-magic with a coated Personna injector blade.

My first use of The Pink in this Razor and found it a fiddle to load and centre properly. I have a feeling that the Hiram Commander may well be a better Razor for me, judging by my last Shave with it compared to that of today. Perhaps a second outing may be better than that of today.

 

Actually that's partly right. I was loading plenty of product but using way to much water. So not enough product to water ratio. I was actually loading more than I do with a badger brush, the boar was just holding way more water. I got some good input from a friend on another forum who also posted a link with LOTS of good info.

 

I had an excellent shave this morning with a Gem 1912, fresh Gem SS PTFE, LaToja, and an Omega boar. The lather today was even better than yesterday and I'm very glad I figured out the issues I had been having with boar brushes. Today's watch is the Casio G-Shock DW 5600E. And today's shave was also inspired by @SRQShavers recent acquisition.
