I tried using PAL blades today, it was a horrible experience. Any advice?

    Try Personna or Schick instead!

    Neolithium I am Canadian, eh

The PAL blades are terrible for me too, for SE I can pretty much only use Gem Stainless blades.

Ok injector friends. Question. I just received my new razor, it's an M26. The M is a adjustable, right? Can you tell me a bit about this beauty. I couldn't find much.

    Go with the stainless.
It is not adjustable. It appears to be an I1. It is my second favorite razor after my 1924. Mild but efficient.

The letters and numbers stamped on Schick razors mean nothing, it's generally believed to be quality control codes so they could identify which machine or production line they were made on in case of a issue. The letter designations we use to identify the various Schick razors are not official factory designations or model numbers, they were used by Alan Appleby as a way of documenting the changes made through the years.

Alan Applebys original site can be seen HERE

It hasn't been updated in several years, and I don't know who Renaldo is.

Renaldo would be The Shave Den's, and the original Tos' very own 'IAmTheJody'.

Injector or SE.....I love the PAL Blue SE's...but you need to do the alcohol, dry, drop of baby oil and store in a dry place between shaves to avoid rust....typical carbon drill for me to get more than one shave per blade but worth it to get 3 great smooth, soft and close ones....;). YMMV as always

I did not know that, thanks Lloyd.
Those PAL injector blades are old carbon steel blades.

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk.....I don't know, but I've always steered clear of the Carbon Injector Blades....I love the Carbon SE's but my Pop preferred the SS injector blades from the minute they made the scene so I've never actually tried them..

What do you think, @HoosierTrooper ? Can the Carbon Injector Blades compare to their SE carbon counterparts....?

@HoosierTrooper , also Tom, do you know when Star made their 1912's ? I know you told my the ER incarnarnation was after 1929? And I know Star was making DE TTO 's pretty early...Did they make their 1912 and DE TTOs at the sametime? i can't seem to find much info on this....Judging from the handle I would guess ca.1920's....But it doesn't say Brooklyn NY...it just say 'made in USA'.....I'm really ignorant about these wonderful Stars...;)

I've tried a few carbon injector blades and didn't care for them. I'd love to have seen how they felt when brand new, as opposed to how they are now after decades of being exposed to moisture. Carbon steel injector blades are still available at www.emsdiasum.com but I've never tried them.

Waits says the Star version of the 1912 superseded the Ever-Ready version which we know came out around 1930, so ASR began making them sometime in the 30's and continued probably well into the 40's as replacements for the ER brand. The ads from the late teens and early 20's show Star was still selling the older lather catcher styles.

The patent for Star DE razors came out first in 1940, they made military sets for WWII. The Star DE was made into the 60's.

@HoosierTrooper , Thanks Tom....After I asked this I saw something over on TOST where someone thought the Star version of the 1912 started in 1933 so your info corroborates this...I know I can take your info to the bank, thats why you're my Master of the Sharp Side....;)
