very cool sir..i think its designed to be just soap..then the balm or aftershave gets purchased as well..i think moisturizing shave soap is an artisan thing mainly..lovely shave..

Those SS things suck the first shave or two.I just stick with carbon steel.
Do you use it with the head flat on your face?

    Yes flat, like gem directions!?
Maybe a tiny bit to much pressure but not much more than Carbon blade.
I went have back to clean and dry carbon blade 1.5 to 2 hours post shave, to late. blade had already started to oxidize. Pretty sure I don’t like and/ or haven’t got into routine of post shave blade ritual.
Nicked / scratched the cheek area, one spot on neck, I thought alum block was lagging broke out the pencil for first time ever.... had my first pink pencil experience. Regarding SS blade, I read where some will dumb down a blade by pulling through a cork???

Most disappointing thing is I have to wait longer for next shave, and use a mild DE for a sub standard shave , to allow face to heal.

I ‘m not quitting on them (yet)... 2 packs of blades and different few more Gem, that I have to try.....

You are right about drying the blades. You have to be quick. The Micromatic will teach anyone the meaning of no pressure. Once you get everything dialed in they are awesome razors.

Night 24 rolling along. The schedule shows another full week. I do not think that will happen. The turnaround should start to wind down in a few days.

I picked up a beautiful E2 set from a member here. The case is in great shape. It has one of the black magazines with it. I am guessing I could reload it with new blades.

A very pleasant Sunday Morning Shave, got the moisture content on the Brush just right. A rich creamy Vitos Lather produced , enabling implementation of a very smooth and comfortable Shave, with a super close finish. These Prolines seem to want to keep going , no indication today of the blade waning.

It was a most enjoyable......Proraso red is my favourite of their offerings and it is a fantastic performer for a basic over the counter Pharmacy soap.

Ever-Ready 1912 (USA) with a Personna GEM SS Blade (Shim)

This was my first use of a recently acquired US E-R 1912. A shim was used so that I could compare it directly with the British version used yesterday. In my opinion the US version is significantly milder than its British equivalent.....but as always YMMV.

    Lucky Tiger

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Col. Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #339 Boar brush. I did two passes with the 1907 Gem Jr. Lather Catcher razor with a Vintage Gem Cutlery blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

It's reloadable. Just hold the spring down with a pen, or something that will fit and then carefully load your blades. I reload all my vintage injector magazines.

What I have done before and still do to tame for the first few shaves is use one of the milder Gem razors and have a few shaves and then go to the MMOC and find that helps a lot because the sharpness of the GEM SS PTFE blade is just as sharp as a Feather blade.
Like every thing in shaving can be opinionated these are IMO's were some of the shaving gear is rating.
It takes a few shaves to figure the GEM Micromatics out but they are sure nice razors once mastered.

Im gonna try to grow a pencil thin mustache. To get it done im gonna use injector razors. Im waiting on the blades, and I'm gonna start with the pal adjustable. Dry runs make me think it'll be small enough to see what I'm cutting.

    Lea Classic Soap
    Mongoose B3
    Schick Proline [ 10 ]
    Lea Classic A/S Lotion

Used the Mongoose B3 again Today. It really is a testament to the Proline Blade, that even on its 10th outing in this Razor the Shave was smooth and comfortable. The Finish was so good and the blade does not seem to wane or create any problems.
